Vitamins and diseases

I have wondered if a study has been done into what conditions Alopecia sufferers develop in later life, as Alopecia may be an early indication of something going awry. And how many Alopecia sufferers take vitamin and mineral supplements? I have been taking zinc, chromium and Vit D for a few years. I have just discontinued these but it is too early to see if it improves things. I know accumulation of certain vitamins and minerals can be toxic.

although im not anorexic,i still think it could be to do with the diet as i lost it pretty quick in 4 months,im not sure what my iron levels are now. i feel i just get fobbed off all the time by the docters it was 3 months last time i saw the dermatologist i have about 30 percent off hair left.i do know iron levels have to be quite high for hair growth,i am considering to have my hair analyised to see if this picks up on anything,as i dont know which other road to take at the momment.and apparently my thyroid was normal.god really knows.some days im fine other it is really gut wrenching.take care sharon xx

hi sweetpea, that sounds very much like mine, but i cannot hide mine anymore now.it is such soul destroying to see this happen to my hair.my is still shedding and thinning all over,so i dont know how far it will go before it slows down. my iron was 52 and this is appatentley in the normal range, regarding the docter.but a tricologist i emailed, said iron has to be in the 80s for hair growth.the only change i did ws i dieted before xmas and lost just under 3 stone,i did cut out on loads of fats and diary products.maybe this triggered it not sure.sharon x
