About Me:
I'm 30 years old and have four beautiful children. I am currently in nursing school. I recently noticed 4 small round bald patches near my hair line on the right side and behind my ear. It is easily covered up but I fear that it will get worse. It is in such a bad place if it were to get worse. I am looking for someone to talk to. Some encouragement. Some hope that things will get better. My dermatologist said that it will most likely grow back with in a year but i just can't help but think about "what if it gets worse".

Wish I knew what was wrong with my hair

Posted on November 16, 2010 at 10:51pm 2 Comments

Ever since I had my second child in 2001 I have told my family and doctors that my hair is thinner on the right side. It is a lot thinner around the hair line on that side. My family and doctor always told me that my hair was fine and I was imagining things. Well this summer I went through a little shedding period. Of course the shedding was mainly from the right side. How strange. Anyway I went to a derm who said that the hair was thinner on that side but it wasn' t bad. She said it was… Continue

Has anyone ever been affected on only one side of the head?

Posted on October 8, 2010 at 11:25pm 1 Comment

I have a question. Has anyone ever been affected on only one side of the head. My right side has gotten so thin, especially around the hairline and my left side is as thick as ever. No signs of alopecia on the left side. I just find it strange. It makes me wonder if it is something else.

Please help me

I am 30 years old and just recently been diagnosed with alopecia areata. I have several very small spots on the right side of my head. The bad thing is that they are near the hair line and will be hard to disguise if it gets worse. I really need some encouragement. After looking through this site I feel like I really have no right to get on here and complain about my head when there are so many more of you on here with a much more complex condition than mine. I just keep crying and looking in… Continue

Hi Kristi, I was studying last night as well..As for nursing school getting better, no it does not it gets harder..Obviously, you are getting your BSN the same as myself because people who get a AS don't have to take that stuff..Pharm was kinda easy for me actually, I got sn A in the class, but I am not doing so well in Patho it is very tough and it usually comes after Pharm..Hopefully you do well..Im sure you will..Yes, my tests were/and still are back to back..I have an exam on wed, thurs, and fri in diff subjects, but hang in there its not that bad.. I noticed my first patch on Sep 8th and I was in hysterics..I have no family history nor do I any auto immune diseases this virtually happened over night..Not sure if you seen my pics or my blogs but my spot was huge when it first appeared and it is coalacing into one big spot now..A little before a month while being on steroid cream was when I found the next two and they are huge as well..Mine are all on the top of my head, but just three and seem to only be more prominant on the left side of my head..It seems as though on top of having AA I also have diffuse hair thinning, but not sure if that comes alog with AA until it stops or not..But after a month of AA and using steroid cream my hair conitnues to fall out at an alarming rate..I also found some patches of hairloss on my legs which I am terrified about so I dont really know what to expect and I dont know how I can/will cope..Tell me about your hair loss..Are you using corticosteroids?, how big are your spots, how many do you have? Any auto immune diseases in the family or self? Stuff like that..Lol Hope your doing well as well..:) Hugs

Hello and welcome, Kristi!
I'm sorry you're having a hard time. I know how it feels. I've had alopecia for 30 years.
Let me know if I can help, okay? I wrote a book about it so I've done a lot of research and talked to a lot of women.

Kristi, Im sorry. This is something thats going to put u to the test. I was 30 when I lost everything. Its been ten years now and Ill never get used to it. sometimes i feel like im not human. like i have no place. I dont like to be alone but I dont like being around people either. I tried everything and after a while I felt it was better for me just to deal with my situation than have false hope. If I could have anything back I would like some eyelashes. Ur people that love u are still gonna love u and the rest of them can go f thereself
