About Me:
I am a stay at home mom to a 2 and 3 year old and a stepmom to a 10 and 11 year old. I have had alopecia since I turned 15 (yeah as a sophmore in high school) and have been supported by my family for 13 years. My husband and sister call me a beautiful bald princess and make me feel like one too. I have not become comfortable yet to go out in public without my wig but I am becoming more comfortable in front of friends and family.

Yea! Ppl from CT! I'm so glad I found this group... I just was diagnosed with cicatricial alopecia. Do you all ever get together - for support? I'll have to look around here and find out. I live in West Hartford.

Hi Julie,
I love your photos, your kids are adorable. I have had alopecia areata for about 6 years. Still have some hair left but not much...
It is nice to meet so many moms on this site and to find out how everyone and their kids deal with alopeica.

Thanks for that info. I dont have any wigs yet as I am still wearing my bio hair with concealer but I could still do the bandana thing at the beach or the pool. Its fashionable for people to do that anyway. Or I could wear a cap or a sun hat to lay out in the sun. Id just have to make sure I go inside before taking it off. Wouldnt want to scare anyone if it came off outside. :) I had skin cancer on the top of my head and had to have surgery back in 2003, that came from getting badly burned on the beach when my hiar was wet, this was before any hairloss problems. So I dont need sun exposure there anyway.

You've been through so much already....Im sorry about your mother. I lost my dad in 2004 and I still miss him so much. Can I ask you one thing? Do you exercise or swim at all? What would you do like if you went to the beach? Im curious because I want to go to the beach this year but I wouldnt get my hair wet in front of anyone.

Hey Julie! You are adorable in your picture. What kind of alopecia do you have? Mine was induced with antidepressants. It sucks.....Im sure it was hard on you experiencing something like that at the tender age of 15.
