About Me:
Hi everybody. Last May my hair started to fall out. Now you see the results, as I am totally bald only a few months later. In November of 1987 I was in college and had a small bald spot on the top of my head. The doctor told me that it was caused by stress. It quickly grew back and I forgot all about it. Now, 23 years later I am in law school and it happened again, except this time it is obviously much more severe. Being a guy, baldness isn't that big of a deal, by I really don't want to lose my eyebrows. However, as I study, every day these last few days a few eyebrow hairs have been falling out and down on to the pages of my books.

I have been to two doctors now. The first was an old guy and former emergency room doctor who looked up my condition on the internet and decided to inject me with Methylprdnisln. However, he wasn't used to the dermatological ways of injection and gave me a few really big injections where my hair was originally falling out. The injections were so huge that he had to use his thumb to press the bubbles down. I could literally feel some of the fluid running down the left side of my face under my skin because it was colder than my blood temp.

The locations of those particular shots are only place where the hair folicles are recovered and growing like crazy.

The dermatologist gave me prednisone for 20 days, and two sessions of many tiny injections all over my scalp. No results whatsoever.

So that's it. Here I am, but I have some ideas on how to find a solution with a group effort of at many people with AA/ AT/ AU all collectively trying the same treatment at the same time and reporting their results after a period of time to the site. Perhaps an organized effort will give us some basic statistical information!

P.S. The women on this site who are totally bald look perfectly fine to me. I think bald is cute!

Welcome to Alopecia World Geoff,

Wow - that first injection sounds a bit alarming! (and it worked! Ha ) I had my first bald spot in 1990 while in college too. It went away for a while... resurfaced in 04 and continues with multiple coming and going bald spots! ... ugh. I feel fortunate that it is still only "spots"

I also tried the injections and currently use a foam topical steroid and both seem to help!

I have seen so many doctors that I've lost count... and tried many holistic approaches as well. I'm curious - are you currently seeking any treatment? I like your idea - statistics would be helpful- esp. given how unpredictable this condition can be. Any thing that could give some sense of control back works for me!
