HiAt this time I use the clippers to keep my head shaved. I have noticed after three to four days the hair that starts to regrow itches. At this time, the best solution has been to put shaving cream…Continue

Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs

Posted on November 21, 2015 at 12:00pm 5 Comments

Hi Everyone,

Has anyone tried Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs with any success with helping hair loss?

We have a Community Acupuncture Practice here in South FL. Basically you sit in a group, in these gravity chairs and the doctor places needles in particular points on the body to open up the energy meridians. You sit there quietly for about 45min to 1hr. The herbs are to help balance out what area according to Chinese medicine that is weak. In addition to alopecia, I have other…

Has anybody written their hair story in a book?

Posted on March 2, 2014 at 5:11pm 14 Comments

I am in the process of writing my book. It is like a hair autobiography (with pictures).  It is not a book about treatment.  Although I had to chuckle while writing to keep from crying, I can feel the healing in the process. Has anyone else already did this or have a journal they have keep over the years?

I am a self-publish author of 4  "how to" books and a BlogTalk Radio host of 2 shows. But this is the first one that is personal. I feel some apprehension for actually putting it on…

Change brings new/return anxiety

Posted on July 13, 2012 at 10:58am 0 Comments

Hi Family:

I thought I would blog to get help with the anxiety. I do have a small amount of hair at the top in which I add false hair and wear it to the right (dominant side). I have been wearing that style along with the bald look out in the public for 1 year. I have truly gotten use to the double looks and stares. I have developed a level 1 anxiety for going into familiar places and a level 3 for new places. I decided last night to switch the false hair from the right to the left.…

Not wanting to look at bald head

Posted on August 31, 2011 at 11:02am 2 Comments

Hi Everyone:

I have noticed since I cut my hair to the scalp, I have avoided looking in the mirror to look at it closely. Except, when it is time to cut it again. I am so critical when looking at my scalp, I can see all my shiny spots and way the scalp looks sick. It caused me to feel depressed. I will say on the positive note, when I shaved my head on yesterday, it seems to be looking more even in texture. I lingered when looking in the mirror under the bathroom lights. I am not… Continue

Hello and welcome, Ericka!
How are you today? BTW, don't feel bad if you don't want to go without a wig. I have had this for 30 years and never go in public without one. It's okay either way!
