"Hi I can relate to everything you said, basically it's stress, you are under stress. Cut out the stress, meditate, take time out to smell the roses, unwind, take a holiday etc. etc. & don't even look at the bald spot.  It will…"

About Me:
Hi, my name is Deb & I am a 58 y.o. single woman; suffered AA over 35 years ago, it first started before my marriage in 1977 when I was 22 and has always returned when I am stressed; I know this, as it always comes back a month or so after the stress, the sort of stress where I feel electric surges in my stomach, temper outbursts & out of control thoughts. It left me along for long stretches then out of the blue it returns. 2011 was a very stressful year and it returned with a huge bald spot on the back of my head and 2 smaller bald spots on the crown. I commenced steriod injections once again and yes, the hair regrew however, 2 years later and more STRESS and yes, you guessed it, my alopecia is BACK; I recently found another small patch starting on the side of my head, so I this time, instead of rushing off to the doctor, I am going to take my own advice and meditate, refuge to get stressed and give this a go before getting the painful injections again. I will keep you posted on my progress.

Alopecia areata

Hi Deb - yes that is a bit of a distance! Another time :)

It is hard to avoid (confrontations) and I've never seen her again; but I will as we have studios in the same area. I don't think she can ever take me to that place of shame and fear again - maybe that's what this is about. This disease appears to happen to emotionally sensitive woman and men, and either it is to fortify us, or to make us face our fears and become our own warriors. Not in an aggressive sense, but in an assertive way that we may not have done as firmly as before - with as much conviction. I will let you know how the "next" if any encounter goes with her. :) Off to the garden today, will chat more another time.

Hi Deb
I am 54 and have gone from AA into AU in 3 months. Although my dermatologist still says it's AA - but come on, it's nearly gone everywhere. I have always been a positive person, I've used affirmations for 25 years, have a spiritual practice of yoga and meditation, prayer, visualization etc. I did have emotional stress this past year - I'm self-employed and was expanding my work and had a lot of work changes in 10 months. Then a neighbour got upset about my dog and created conflict about it - coming over to my driveway and admonishing me. Then a friend attacked me 4 months later at my studio - she's a little imbalanced but I don't do well with conflict - these two things spiraled me into shame and worry. It sounds so silly when I write it down, but I really reacted to being publicly yelled at! Then my 92 yr old Mom got sick and put in a home, my sister was being emotionally abusive to her and I just felt overwhelmed....boom, my hair started falling out 2 weeks later. It took 2 weeks to lose 90% of it. Anyway, I like your attitude and I am also on that mission, to reduce my own anxiety and worry in my life. :)
