Skilled barber in New York accustomed to hair loss clients?

Started Mar 16, 2011 0 Replies

Does anyone know of any skilled barbers that can do a close cut without causing irritation and shaving bumps to the scalp; preferably a barber familiar with hair loss in New York City?

About Me:
Hello all…

I am new here. I have lost a significant amount of hair due to seborrhea dermatitis. I didn’t know it was seborrhea dermatitis at first. In fact, I didn’t even realize I had a scalp condition until a few weeks. So of course I scrubbed and scratched my scalp trying to remove the build-up not knowing that this would cause traction alopecia… and thus removing the hair right out of my head apparently. Now I have traction alopecia. Prior to this though I noticed significant thinning of my hair anyway. I suspect that was due to the dermatitis as well. In any event, the hair loss is grand. I want to shave my head entirely and just deal with this head on but I am afraid I might get shaving bumps and irritation and have to deal with a whole other condition on top of the two I have now.

To be perfectly honest, I don’t know what the stages are, if there are any, for hair loss acceptance but if it is any thing like accepting a death then I am at that anger stage. Having said that… this is some bulls***.

I hope joining this community early on in my situation will help me learn many things.

My Seb. Derm.

I bit the proverbial bullet and applied promiseb all over my face today. I have been using this on my ears for the past few days and have not experienced any side effects and thought that I should now try this on my entire face. I will not try this along my hairline until my hair is cut. I hope this works. I think it will!
