Hi Ann, thanks for the friend request! I finally just got sick and tired of hiding the spots every day and worrying about them showing constantly. It felt good to be proactive about it.

Good morning to you too,

Ok, now Get your phone book out & start calling each hair salon & ask if they carry wigs in stock, then go & try some, lots on , diff kinds fake & real & diff colors, then you get to know what will be ok for your face color, your age, your likes & dislikes, then when you are ordering online it is easier to think oh no that is not good, or oh yes that is it.,.........plus it is fun, I went alone, as being I am the one who has to live with this, so only my opinion mattered at the beg. Let me know how it goes, and it is ok, not to be ok with this, I tell myself I am , but honestly I still struggle so deep inside when I am alone it hurts. But that I am told is part of this journey, so each and every day is a little better, Question for you???? which site by the way did you buy it from, I have never bought online, only at my salon Judy & company, I try them on first , she trims if needs be, but I wash & style & care for them, they are actually reallly easy to care for. Have a good one talk to you soon, Denise

Hello Ann, and welcome! I am also very new to this site. You asked me how I put on my wig everyday. I don't know--I just do. I hate every minute of this disease. but reading other people's stories have helped me tremendously. I am not as brave as some, and in awe of how other's words reflect what I am feeling....but bottom line, my hair is not coming back anytime soon. My hair loss was more gradual--over 2-3 years. I think at this point, i do not have a single hair left to lose and so in a bizarre way, no further loss to deal with. Once I saw a few feisty gals on this site who have a lot of different wigs, it started changing the way I looked at my own future. Like Denise said, together we make it thru.

Hello, Ann,

Hair is not easy to accept when we lose it, I lost mine starting with a night shift then 4-5wks later there was not enought left to hide anymore, it was sooooooooooo obvious, so it had to be shaved, Judy who did it, shaved it so uick then in a blink put the wig we had agreed on , on my head, and bang, the new me, I felt tears, oh ya,,,,,,,,,,,,cried all the way home, but I aloud myself that one day to be sad, angry mad, loss, felt it all, but one whole day.............then I get the odd moment where i feel sad, of course it is not even a year for me yet, but I quickly remind myself, hey girl, there are little kids fighting for their lives with leukemia, with other life dying things, and I only have to deal with hair loss, come on, so I feel a tear, then wipe it quick, and as for others around me who cannot accept it, well too bad for them, then they really don't care about me, so if this can help you, when you are having a bad day, remember, yes we are aloud to feel sad, but don't let it take alot of you, tell yourself it is what it is, come to this site and talk with people the same as us, and together we all make it thru. Why because we can, & we will. It is our safe place here. I wish you strenght & laughter, it is the best, have a great day, Denise
Ps I too wear wigs, real human hair ones, they are amazing , try lots, have fun with it.

Hey Ann! Welcome to Alopecia world. Oh trust me this Alopecia business takes some time to get used to but believe me you do. LOL..... I have been in wigs for a year now and now it is just the norm for me.... In fact I wear the same one or style but I switch the colors up. It actually is kind of fun! One day I am blonde... The next day I am auburn and the next I am this real funky multicolored auburn look. Whoo-hoo!

My advice to you is order your wigs online. If you buy it in a shop you usually pay way too much. I got suckered into to buying a few wigs which I ended up hating....I think I spent over $3000 between two synthetic and one human hair wig. They all sit in my closet in a box! I ended up ordering cheap wigs from Paula Young online and they have been what I wear and I adore..... I get so many compliments... In fact I took my daughter in to have her hair cut today. I hadn't been there since before I started to lose my hair two years ago. She said she loved my hair..... LOL!!!! I told her it was a wig and that was why I hadn't been in. I loved this hairdresser as we used to do wild stuff with my hair..... Anyways the wig fooled her so how cool was that!!

Hang in there and take it day by day...... In the end it is only hair......

Hi Ann, I'm sorry to hear about your hair loss. I read that it is due to medical treatment. Were you told it was going to happen?

How did you decide on Paula Young? What type of wig is it? I look forward to hearing all about it when you get it. Mine has really been wonderful but I always want to learn about all the venders and various types out there since I am a "newbie" as well.

Are you going to the BGDL reception that was rescheduled? It was disappointing not being able to go on the original date but I will definitely be there in April.

Stephanie
