Hello, My name is obviously, Amie. I guess you would say I'm at mid point, maybe a bit closer to being bald. I found a large bald spot on the back of my head about 5 months ago and now I'm getting…Continue

About Me:
About 3 years ago I literally woke up with curly hair one morning. I freaked out and had a job managing 2nd homes for people, so I just wore a baseball cap for 6 months. Finally I went to a stylist who highlighted my hair and showed me how to just let my hair do what it wants. For the first time in my life I LOVED my hair! Then a few months ago I noticed in the back that a large area was going bald. Again, I freaked out, but it was covered and that was the only area. Then all of a sudden I started seeing the other side of the back of my head getting bald. Then in the last few weeks bald spots are showing up on the top of my head. So far I can still cover them very carefully for work. But, I know time isn't on my side now and it's just a matter of trying to make it through each day. Some nights I just sit and cry, other nights I find my strength and want to be a role model. I hate it when people say "it's just hair" well, it's more than that!! I've been trying so hard to find a place to go where I can talk with other people about this. I don't know what to do. At what point do you shave your head, get a wig, become strong again and embrace what is going on. It's so weird that my own body is attacking my hair. I used that profile pic because I LOVED my hair in it! I normally never post a pic of me.

I live in Santa Fe, NM with my Golden Retriever, Jake, who is my life and thankfully doesn't care about my hair!! I'm going to be 60 in September - YIKES!! I love the outdoors and our mountains. I love to hike, go white water rafting, chill with friends while drinking margaritas.

I will double check a little later what the tube says. I do remember it starting with an F lol And my prescription is to apply it twice a day and hoping for results after 4 weeks. Full price it is worth $44 Canadian here, and our dollar sucks right now lol and it is like the size of a big tube of toothpaste. My doctor said if we don't see progress after 8 weeks, to come back in and we'll go from there. I'm assuming that would mean the injections or something stronger.

I also work at a front desk. But luckily most of my work is accounts payable, emails, and phones. I don't get too many people that come in the front doors. And I am lucky in that I work for a pretty laid back company. And my spot is still mostly coverable unless i wear my hair up...

Just wanted to come to your page and say Hi!

Unrelated to the site, I wanted to mention that when I was in middle-school and High school, I didn't like my name, so my nickname became Amie for many years. I liked it a lot!

I'm sorry you are going through this. I am trying a steroid cream right now, but it has only been a week. Have you tried any creams or injections? Sometimes I wonder, why now? How come I didn't have this earlier in my life and only starts now? I had one spot grow about the size of a large baseball, but grew back on it's own after I was a few months pregnant! This time it's getting bigger and bigger, so this is my first time trying to cream. Mine starts at the corner by my neck and grows towards the center of the back of my head in a circle. I hope it stops...

Well, nice to "meet" you!
