Models with Alopecia

This community is for models and aspiring models with alopecia to share their insights, tips, and even projects. Photographers and other creatives are also welcome here.

SAFETY FIRST:

If someone approaches you on this group or out of this group to model for them, please do your due diligence.  Make sure that you look at their official website and portfolio and that they indeed do professional work.  It should not look like something you could do with a cell phone.  Also consider bringing a parent, guardian, adult friend, or even a group of friends with you to the shoot so that you are not alone with someone you do not know AND make sure others know your location as well as the name, business address, and phone number of the photographer.  Never do anything you are not comfortable with or that you did not discuss in advance of the shoot.  Always be safe.

A boudoir shoot we did we a local Michigan model with alopecia.  It ended up being a story of self-acceptance.  Very emotional.

The model wrote about the shoot afterwards

:

"Change is hard at first, messy in the middle, and gorgeous at the end. 😉 Four years ago, I shaved my head for the first time and it’s been a crazy roller coaster of emotions. I still have sad emotional days, sometimes I use my wigs as a security blanket, and I doubt myself. BUT I LOVE THIS BALD HEAD and wouldn’t change a thing. Thank you so much, LIRISI Photography, for helping me tell such a beautiful story." ❤

I am not a professional model, but we are photographers.  So I end up posing for my husband from time to time.
