I am 100% sure I have ffa I’m only 23 years old and its really affecting my self confidence and my life. I have had alopecia arerea bald patches also. My bald patches started about 5 years ago but was very unnoticeable but around that time in probably 2013 I noticed the hair at the tip and center of my hairline was receding it was so tiny and I was worried about my bald patch that I forgot about it. Fast forward to five years later I’m doing my hair and I notice that the hairline where I noticed was receding had gone up a bunch more.. I know it’s ffa because it’s receding fully not thinning I have all signs I have irritation inflammation I have baby hairs and even tiny tiny hair where it’s balding I think they are called imintuarized hairs.. it’s getting worse idk how I haven’t noticed it more earlier.. I have gone t my derm he said it was traction but I don’t use ponytails  and he’s telling me I’m seeing things and it’s fine . I have an appt with another one coming up. . This is really taking a toll  on me because of how young I am not to mention I also have terrible skin . I am looking for a job where I’m can work from home due to not liking going out I am thankful I have a supportive husband who tells me he’ll love me no matter what.  . I was using  minoxidil  but didn’t help the receding  I stopped using. Sun screen which is horrible for my skin I’m. Taking vitamin d c turmeric and  also their brand viviiscal.. my doctor hasn’t been of much help  idk if I should get my hormones checked. I’m also gonna  do a biopsy on  Monday. . Included some pictures but iit looks worse in person . Does this look like any of your hair lady’s or when your FFA first started? Im open to any comment suggestion or question thanks!

I'm so sorry you are going through this. It really sucks! My advice would be to look up/Google how to treat inflammation and/or autoimmune disease. The best thing that worked for me was changing what I ate. It has made a huge difference!!! Going on an anti inflammatory diet can also help balance hormones besides decreasing all the inflammation that is causing the hair loss and skin issues.

Thanks for replying and yea I’m doing a lot of researching I have used a thc/CBD oil that I heard other had good results with and it did somewhat help but left my hair greasy and I wasn’t sure if it was working. Do you use any type of cream  for inflammation? Also what are your main things you eat on your diet. I also wonder if there is something a link between the fact I haven’t been getting normal periods hormones and the receding hairline. I also recently got off birth control I’m thinking if I get back in it it can help due the estrogen it’s suppose to have maybe I have too high testosterone. . Sorry for the long message.

I read a out the CBD oil but haven't tried it yet. I do use other essential oils on my hair line (rosemary, cedarwood and juniper) at night and them wash my hair in the morning. One drop goes farther than you'd think, so it's not super greasy. I use curcumin(turmeric), omega 3, grape seed extract(capsules, clinical OPC is the name) vitamin c and D and a B complex, magnesium and milk thistle for liver support. I went off birth control pills because they are very hard on your liver. Foods I try to avoid are dairy, sugar and gluten/grains. I followed the AIP diet for 3 months strictly then reintroduced a few foods that could get me through the next few months. I noticed a slight improvement in my skin after the first couple months then after 8 months I really started seeing my hairline look better. Not that hair was growing back but I don't think I've lost anymore hair. After doing the AIP diet (or even whole30) if you stick to a diet that is "whole foods" very little processed foods I believe you'll see improvement.

It’s hard to tell by your photos.  You should just look at photos already online. They have a lot of good ones that show the receding.  My inflammation started out with little red dots above my forehead in the hair roots. I didnt really notice that til the doctor pointed it out. I just knew I was losing a lot of hair,  had never heard of FFA

  • Thank you for replying and mine hasn’t had red dot just receding slowly it’s noticeable I’m trying to figure out another hairstyle or maybe haircut . What do you currently use for inflammation. ?

I have been using clobestatol  propionate topical solution 0.05% 3x week.  When I was first diagnosed the doctor told me to use 2x/day for two weeks. Then once a day for a few months. Now I am using it 3x/week since the inflammation went away. I also use Rogaine for women 5% foam every night.   I have a horrible diet. I’m not overweight but I eat sugar, not enough veggies at all & some fruits. I try & take vitamins to make up for it.  I work at a school cafeteria. The last thing I want to do when I get home is make anything or eat anything besides grabbing a homemade chocolate chip cookie.  I know I should eat healthier.

Okay thanks I think I’m gonna try to get the clobestatol medicine but my doctor is very hesitant he would rather just say it will probably grow back hopefully I can get it. I also have Rogain foam gonna use it again more regularly. Thanks hope mine can calm down.

One more question Donna do you use a ointment, lotion, or foam clobestal. I got my doctor to prescribe it to me but is is very very thick almost clumpy and heard to rub in.. I used it for the first time yesterday and will use it as your doctor directed you since it helped your inflammation and my doctor doesn’t have any info on FFA. Thanks so much!
