Hi all,

Just wondering from those who have tried / are following the AI diet, did you notice any difference in symptoms (like burning, itching scalp) & if so, how long before you noticed it? I’ve been gluten /grain & dairy free for 3 weeks now & my scalp’s burning is worse than before. .... lost 4kg so far which is great but my scalp is really bothering me.

Cheers

I just started the auto-immune diet a couple of weeks ago. I have no dairy, no grains, no legumes, no nightshades, no sugar. I do cheat with 12 ounces of coffee. So far I have lost weight, feel pretty good but have not seen any difference. I think that working on the diet is key but takes a bit of time to actually see improvement in the hairline inflammation.

I followed Dr Weils autoimmune protocol a few years ago for about 6 months, like you I lost weight, felt very healthy but it did not effect my FFA.  It is a very healthy diet so worth doing for overall well being.   Have you tried the steroid lotion CLOBETASOL for your scalp .....

I have tried that  but the side effects were not worth it to me

My dermatologist recommended gluten free and milk free so that is what I am doing. Milk has cow hormones which are not natural to humans and the auto immune system can mistake a wheat protein for something to attacking. These are the only foods that I am eliminating. There are lots of good gluten free options available once you look for them. I do notice when I have sugar; I itch more.  Best of luck.
