Paula I would love to shave my head but my doctor, specialists, wig supplier/stylist and family all won't let while I've got a bit of hair left. I have to wear a full wig as I have/had very curly hair and a topper couldn't be created to blend in with it. I don't like the wig very much and it's not comfortable but the only person in my life who'd be happy with a shaved head is me. It's great that you like your topper and if you think a fuller piece would make you even happier I'd go for it.

I like the name of this group instead of FPB even though Im in both groups "GOING BALD" are the words which make me cringe!!! Im only just coming to terms with AA even though I have suffered most of my life following my mum and nana. Good to read your stories it makes me feel all warm inside to hear positive words instead of my own negative ones.

When have you ladies decided to shave your heads?? What was the point of no return for you?? I have just started to wear a top hair piece (2 weeks) I like it but think I need a bigger one to cover more area??

My daughter has Alopecia Totalis due to Androgen excess. May I ask, we're you treated by an Endocrinologist? And what meds did or didn't work for you?

Hi everyone,
I've been away for some time and I just wanted to let my friends in the group know I'm back.
God bless,
Larry

I have had AGA for approximately 10 years due to hereditary and prescription medications. It is quite depressing and also my anxiety level has gone up since I've had to stop all medications I was using to treat it. Communicating with people who understand what it means to lose hair is really helpful!!

I myself have been suffering from aga since the age of 21. I am now 34, have been tricked into so many different hair solutions which NONE worked with my hopes down the drain..... Now its just a matter of when Im ready to wear a hair piece. I was on sooo many meds also...NONE worked. This dz is so detrimenting to women it causes myself to slip into deep depression at times. I HATE MY ALOPECIA. I HATE WHAT ITS DONE TO MY LIFE and has made me hate the way I look and feel about myself. No one knows our pain unless you are living it. This website howver seems like a huge help, hopefully one day we will all find happiness and inner beauty.

Hi Alex, everyone reacts differently to treatment. For me, I tried multiple treatments and medications and didn't really have any luck. I decided like you mentioned that I didn't want to be on any medications for the rest of my life or that would put anything else at risk. I bought my first wig in February of last year and it was the best decision I ever made. I had been suffering from androgenic alopecia though for 15 years.
But like I said, everyone has different outcomes with treatment, so don't go by just what I am saying. Put a blog out there with your questions, this website is WONDERFUL for information and support!! It has made a huge difference in my life!

Hi Everyone. I've joined this website and this group specifically because my 10 year old daughter has been recently diagnosed with androgenic alopecia. The doctor has recommended 2% Minoxidil. I am having a really hard time trying to decide if it is the best thing for her. Does anyone out there have any advice for me? It's really tough for me to look at her thin hair but at the same time I am hesistant to put her on some drug for the rest of her life and to wonder what the potential side effects could bring.
