I received my denial letter from my insurance and it explicitly says that I will not be covered for xeljanz because I have Alopecia and Xeljanz is experimental for Alopecia.

Will xelsource care that the letter says that?

Thank you. My current insurance does not cover dermatology. So I went to see someone else and paid out-of-pocket. My current dermatologist diagnosed me through a biopsy she sent over to UCSF to analyze. I noticed that you are seeing Dr. North at UCSF. I also live in San Francisco. Would you recommend that I switch over to a dermatologist that is more knowledgeble about Xeljian or would any dermatologist be okay?

The only concern I have in switching over to someone over at UCSF is…

How often do you need to see a doctor or derm on Xeljian to monitor for side effects?
Yes...lost all my hair, eyebr…tag:alopeciaworld.com,2016-07-11:2022678:Comment:13300072016-07-11T15:00:59.055ZNiecehttps://alopeciaworld.com/profile/Niece253

Yes...lost all my hair, eyebrows and eyelashes...within 3 months. Have have read about Xelijanz and of course I could never afford it and even if I could I am very worried about all the side effects and the thought of shutting down my immune system really scares me. I am hoping they come out with a topical Xelijanz that would be effective. It is a very difficult disease to have and I struggle every single day. :(

Who told you that you are AU? Have you lost your scalp hair, as well as eyebrows, eyelashes and other body hair? AU is autoimmune and thus will respond to Xeljanz.

No, alopecia just means hair loss. There are different kinds. For example there is male and female pattern baldness. There is baldness that is related to menopause, hormones or stress.
