Can anyone out there tell me if there are wigs that are actually comfortable and not itchy? I still have hair but the right side of my head has large patches and I don't know if i should use clip in extensions or just do a wig. I'm a little worried of the weight factor when it comes to the extensions. I know it's just a matter of time before most of my hair will be gone. I'm a little confused when it comes to full wigs , lace front? I don't know the difference! lol Any thoughts? Thanks!

Hi

There are many options available to people. My advise to you is to investigate all options fully. Understanding as much as possible before making a choice.

My daughter and I endorse Freedom full vacuum wigs (you do either have to shave your head or have no hair to wear this option). But if you would like to understand about what this wig is like ask as many questions as you need and I will do my best to answer them.

Good luck with your investigations and I wish you well with whatever choice you make.

Arent the Vacuum wigs very expensive?? And what is a gripper??? Help Please

Hi Dana

If you compare apples with apples - I've always found the Freedom Vacuum to be very cost effective. You just need to work out what your needs are and find a hairpiece that ticks those boxes for you.

When looked after properly Freedom wigs can last many years, which for us has made it work cost wise. (My daughter has one hairpiece that is 6 years old and still fab - she does now have more than one freedom hairpiece though.) For me and my daughter this type of wig made a difference, it helped. The features it has (security, durability, comfort, life like appearance, flexibility of styling etc. etc.) worked for us.

I'm sure that someone will come along soon to explain how the 'Gripper' is working for them.

Rosy

Thanks Rosy
Today I went to the hair supply store and boy did I go nuts!lol I bought some hair extensions and I will be sewing the clips on them. I'm at a very early stage of hair loss still. I am losing though at a very fast rate with rogaine. I decided to stop using it. Anyway I also did buy some hair scarves as well. I just want to prepare myself and if it does get to the point where I need to shave my head I will consider the vacum wig. So is the vacum wig like a suction cup or something? (lol that sounds stupid! but not sure how it works)=P Anyway thanks for the advice ...etc.

Linda

Linda, it's great to hear that you have found some alternatives that are working for you!!

The Freedom Vacuum Wig uses no tapes or Glues to keep it secure. This type of wig is a very precise piece of equipment that fits your head so a vacuum occurs (this holds the hairpiece in place). It doesn't suck on to your head it sits there very comfortably and with very little feeling (sort of like wearing a sock - you only know you are wearing it when you think about it). The cap is made with silicone that has the ability to pass water vapour and air through it - therefore when you perspire doing everyday activities it will pass through the cap - but when you go swimming your head will stay dry and the hair on your Freedom wig will behave and dry like normal growing hair. Really the best of both worlds.

Linda - no questions are stupid and I'm happy to help.

Hope we see some piccies of you in your new scarves and extensions.:)_

Hugs

Hi Rose Marie,
Can the Full Vacuum wigs be worn and used in Caribbean countries where it always hot and humid here?

Hello Ming

Yes, it can. My daughter has never found this type of wig any hotter than other hairpieces available. If anything for her and many I know the comments are just the opposite. All hairpieces/wigs no matter what they say are hotter than no hair or your natural growing hair. I've helped many people who have worn other products that say not only were they hot but they were also itchy, they lacked the security people are often looking for, and the hair of was not of the standard that people need to live their lifes with long term extensive hairloss.

I believe the Freedom haipiece is the only true vacuum piece available. There is a difference between vacuum type qualities and the actual benefits of a true vacuum. One thing that springs to mind for you in your part of the world is the ability to swim. The freedom vacuum wig will behave in a similar way as your natural growing hair.

I have noticed there is often concern with regards to heat and vacuum wigs. As I see it this is not only untrue for most wearers, it is terribly misleading. Everybody will have a different experience with their wig of choice, but for me and my daughter this truly works in all weather conditions.

Pop into the Freedom Wigs group here and have a chat to wearers, as they may help. :)

Good luck with your investigations.

Rosy

Thank you Rosy for your response, I will pop on over and have a look at the group.

I have worn wigs every day for the last 2-3 years, and I think that my head/scalp has become used to them, because I almost never notice itchiness anymore. In the past, I have sewn some soft ribbon over the itchy places. You could also sew in a thin turban or wig cap as a lining. I've never tried extensions, but I really like Forever Young wigs.

My bonded on hair system is basically very comfortable!
And Super secure!

Thanks for the replies everyone!! Glad I joined a great support group...hugs<3

I am bald, and my wigs don't bother me. I think you get used to it. There are several kinds of wigs out there. There are full lace and lace front wigs. I have one lace front wig. Basically the hairline is more natural with the lace fronts. With some of the lace wigs you have to use tape or adhesive, but there are new kinds out now where you don't need any adhesive. For example, mine is the "High Society" by Gabor. I agree that you should look at all of your options. There are human hair, synthetic, standard cap, mono, and lace front. I would suggest that you join wigsupport.com. There are wonderful women who are very helpful. I would say go to some wig stores and try on all of the different kinds of wigs they offer. If you can, purchase wigs online. They are usually much cheaper than stores. Just stay away from the $50 wigs. They tend to me cheaply made. Good luck! Have fun with it!
