Hi, all!

My Babygirl (6 yr old granddaughter) is at the point where she would like to wear a wig. I have no idea where to begin. I have seen wigs online, but am skeptical of buying it sight-unseen. Where have you purchased wigs for your little girls? What type of wig did you get? Synthetic vs human hair? How long do they last? And, what was the price?

And, because cost IS (unfortunately) an issue, have any of you worked with any of the free wig organizations? What was your experience?

Any guidance/advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi

My advise would be to investigate your granddaughters needs before any purchase.  Work out what she needs and wants, then find out as much as possible about all the different types of wigs available.  As she is so young I would even think a Hat with hair would help her.  (Contact Aimee here as she wears these wigs in conjunction with synthetic wigs and really likes them).... I believe they are reasonably priced.

The other two places that I know who help those in financial need are the 'Hair Club' and Locks of love.  Google both.

I'm an advocate for Freedom Wigs...my own daughter has worn these type of wigs for years.  If I can help with any information around Freedom Vacuum wigs, message me.

Good luck with everything.

Hi, Rosy! Thanks for your reply. My grandbaby has a wig on order from Hair Club. It will take at least 8 weeks. I was just looking for an inexpensive synthetic wig to just get her from here to there - but, it seems that won't be necessary! This week, she decided to "be the boss of my hair" and shave off what little hair she had left - and she loves it!  She declared, "I am a strong kid. I am ME - and I like my bald head!" She entered her class the next morning with a big smile on her face - and answered all the questions with a nonchalant attitude. There was only one child (at lunch) who laughed at her - she was far more annoyed than upset. I know that she has the right attitude to deal with any rough times ahead. And, if it ever does get her down, she will have the strength to pick her self back up!
