I wear synthetic wigs and have done so for over 24 years but lately I have noticed what appears to be a reaction to the wigs. Has anyone had this problem and can you recommend any solutions. I have AU.

You may want to wear a wig liner.
Have you changed the shampoo, conditioner or any other products applied to it?
No i havwnt changed shampoo or anything. I think my wee head has just had enough! Where can i get wig liners?
Here are four different styles/materials for wig liners from UltimateLooks.com
Wig Liners
Ive had to stop wearing synthetics as they bring me out in a rash all over my scalp and the back of my neck looks like my cats attacked me! I previously wore them for over 10 years without any real problems but about four years ago switched to human hair because of it.
How find the the real hair wigs?
I think a lot of people with Alopecia also suffer form skin irritations and alergies. I'm always having some skin problem. I often find that I get really itchy.
Ray, I have alergies too. I wore synthetics for a few years and virtually from day 1 they gave me a horrible itchy rash, like Becky's. I'd use aloe vera gel on the irritated areas and it helped loads, but the rash would return every time I wore a synthetic wig and eventually it just became too bothersome so I switched to wearing human hair wigs.
I dont have any problems with the human hair, at the end of the day no red raw patches which is a definate bonus! I used to use hydrocortisone cream to try and control the rashes, my gp prescribed it for me but even with that the irritation was just too painful.

I too have starting to experiencing itchy scalp when wearing synthetic wigs. This just started a few months ago.
