Hello,
I'm disabled and have thought about being a wig stylist. I  would like to specialize working with people with hair loss problems. Several women in my family have had to deal with cancer and chemo. I'm completely untrained but am serious in doing this. Would going through your program of tutorials allow me to follow this plans?

Thank You,

Larry, have you gone to a beauty school program. To become a wig stylist you would have to do this. Wigs are about construction of caps, quality of hair, understand density, coloring of wigs. This is a complicated business and to really become a quality wig stylist you have to master the art of hair on people that have hair. Then with training on wigs you could move forward to help others with hair loss and I applaud you if you do this. Remember wigs are so expensive and mistakes on them cannot be fixed as that of people with hair. Just my thoughts. Let me know if you have anymore questions and email me or friend me. Lisa

No, I have not had any training or schooling at all. As I wrote earlier, being disabled I have a lot of time on my hands so a friend suggested this might be for me. She based it not just because of the time I have but because I used to wear wigs and have a very layman's knowledge about them. Would Ihave to learn about make-up, too? That is something I have no interest in.

Thanks for replying.

God bless,

Larry

Larry, contact a beauty school in your area and ask to do an informational meeting to learn what is required to ultimately work on wigs. I do not think makeup is part of beauty  school, but I cannot be sure. The other option is to get a job in a wig salon and learn about synthetic vs human hair. Learn about toppers or toupees, how they are made, how to wash and care for them. You can learn a lot from a good wig store. Hope that helped out. Lisa

Thank you, Lisa, you've been very helpful.

Larry

You are very welcome. Good luck and if you think this may be your passion then go for it. All my best to you. Lisa
