Tell me a funny story! I can laugh at myself so lets laugh together. I just lost my wig in public. Not kidding.

We can all cry together, but I'd rather laugh. Does anyone else want to share a funny story? On Father's Day I was in the pool with my darling daughter and I wear an old wig to swim. My daughter is really bothered that some of her friends or herself would think that I am ill, etc. if they see my balding. I say, "Who cares?" But whatever. So I wear a swim wig. Father's Day I am swimming and she is laughing and playing with me and I come up out of the water and the wig falls off.It slips off backwards as I come up out of the water in this crowded pool. I catch it mid air and start laughing and slap the thing on my head. Her eyes are big as saucers. I start backing up and laughing she's shaking her head with her eyes getting bigger and bigger. Apparently I slapped it back on sideways, so I ungraciously grabbed both ear tabs and yanked the thing back in place and said loudly, "Is that better?" She wanted to leave but I wouldn't let her. I just CANNOT live my life like that. Ok, so I'm not getting any dates that day (which is what I told her incidentally to make her laugh). And I may have looked stupid, but she is the one who thinks I need a swim wig. I say, I am what I am and I am definitely more than the sum of my parts. I think by not freaking out, I recovered fine. No, I didn't get any dates, but there was no extended laughing, nor was there any sympathy clucking either.

Some of you who have encountered me before have seen that I am finally approaching dating. So all these personal ads and guess who ends up working out for me as a date? Some guy that I have had a major crush on for about 5 years but he lives not in the same city as me and he knew me before my hair ever thought of falling out so I just went through the should I tell him before or after he flies out here for his first date visit. He says if the relationship works out he is willing to relocate. So, unless it comes up naturally in conversation I have decided not to tell him until he gets here and tell him in person. I plan to meet him in a wig that is different than what is on my FB profile and that he has not seen before as a conversation starter. He may really NOT notice, though. So I'm thinking we might be, um, rolling around a bit before the subject comes up. Does anyone have a funny one for me? I can literally just picture us kissing hot and heavy and me rolling over and leaving the thing on the bed accidentally off my head. I don't really wear them tight unless I"m swimming and clearly that's not quite tight enough! LOL I get headaches. I just don't like them tight. Anyone wish to share or comment about my Father's Day pool mishap?

Father's Day pool mishap: Hilarious!

I plan to meet him in a wig that is different than what is on my FB profile and that he has not seen before as a conversation starter: Brilliant idea!

So I'm thinking we might be, um, rolling around a bit before the subject comes up: Chicken. Don't do this to him. Tell him first, because a wig suddenly off during rolling when he DOESN'T know might be a deal-breaker shock, ice-bucket-on-fire experience he will forever feel and talk about to others.

Thank you for the feedback. I will weigh it very carefully. This is Mr. Sensitive yoga instructor that I met at a white tantra yoga retreat. He and I were the only ones without partners and this was a couples exercise. So...we meditated together for many hours in a thing that was so powerful we both cried and were dumbfounded by the spiritual connection. He does know I had cancer a few years ago...I don't know. Maybe I should just lay it all out on the line airing any dirty laundry before we finally have our forces align at the right time and date. Thanks.

See...if he lived here, he'd already know because around town I am changing it up every day. I just have kept FB ultrabland. I've been toying with posting all these various wig pics all over my FB acct and making it very obvious to all. What do you think? It's only the out of towners that donn't know.

Holyhairlossbatman -- PLEASE DO NOT post your wig photos over your FB account. What purpose would it serve???? People on FB can get weird.......

Pardon me if I sound "hypervigilant".....I've had bad experiences with FB.

Thanks for the advice. I do have a lot of security settings. What I think will happen is the majority that already know, one of them will comment with the word "wig" someday and the cat will be out of the bag. LOL

My FB has random pics of me without a wig. I am comfortable with that. If people are getting weird they shouldn't be on your friends list or your security settings need to be tightened. Relax!!

Great story! You handled it very well. I have my own funny story!....

I was in Ireland last year around October. We went to the Cliffs of Moher. The wind was blowing very, very strong. I was wearing my Revlon "Scorpio" wig. I didn't want it to get tangled badly from the winds. I was wearing a windbreaker jacket with a hood. I decided to take the wig off and stuff it inside of the jacket. Then, I put the hood over my head. It felt a lot better. I'm walking around taking pictures of the cliffs having a good time. I put my hand down, and then realized that the wig was gone. "OH crap". I turn around, and it was on the ground!! haha. I ran over and grabbed it. I think a man saw what happened. He was just standing there looking at me. I thought it was hilarious. It could have been a lot worse! :)

LOVE IT! I had a wind problem once at a gas station. It was so bad that I fueled with one hand on my head, literally. I just keep asking myself, "Do I want to go home and hang my head in shame and cry just because of this ONE thing. I'm cute enough. I'm over 40 for criminy sakes! Do I want to just give up? Of course, some days I do. Other days (most of the time) I don't. Thanks for sharing.

ANd I would NOT want to lose the Scorpio wig. I love that one!

I agree! :)

Im a hairstylist in Oklahoma and as you know it gets very windy. One day while I was at work I walked out side and the wig my mom had sent me was to big and really itchy so I had just sewn the neck line to a cotton liner but only in the back and then I would tie a ribbon around my head like a headband to keep the wig. I had taken the ribbon off to re-adjust then I had to run outside to get something from my car and right as I walked outside the wind flipped my wig off but because it was attached in the back it didn't fly all the way off just was hanging off the back of my head like some sort of hair cape basically I felt like a superheroes but my super power doesn't attack anybody. It just attacks my own hair. Lol

Laughing my butt off! THanks so much.
