For a long time now, I have used the Topstick wig tape on my tape tabs and it has worked very well for me.  However, I am getting some regrowth on the sides where the tape goes and when I go to take my wig off, it's literally pulling out my hair and is quite painful!  I've started using alcohol which works ok but still not great.  Just wondering if a glue would serve me better.  I've never used any type of glue before but, to those of you who have, can you tell me if it's better or worse in terms of removal on grown hair?

Thanks!

Hi Jen,

I used glue only a couple of times when I still had some hair left..For me the glue was a pain. It would get stuck in my hair and would take forever to get out... I just use the blue lace tape. The tape does hurt when it pulls on your hair but for me the glue was a major pain and quite a mess.

That's all I needed to hear. So, I guess I'll "stick" with the tape...get it?? :)

Thanks, Becca!
Hi Aimee,
Actually, I had never used tape either until pretty recently. Back when I bought my wigs online, I would just do what you do and buy a petite size. However, the company that I use now (yaffa) doesn't really make a petite sized wig (or at least I've never seen one) so I just have them tailor an average sized one to my head size. However, I guess since they are not a "true" petite size, they don't feel as secure on me as I'm used to so I began having tape tabs added on to the wig and using a double stick tape on the sides. Now, with the elastic in the back AND the tape...this puppy ain't going anywhere! The wig itself doesn't require the tape but it just makes me feel more secure.
Aimee, There are certain kinds of wigs that require tape or glue; lace front wigs, for example. I have one and I use the tape because the glue was too messy for me and I prefer to take the wig off everyday, so I figure the tape would be more efficient.
hate to tell you but if you are having regrowth the best thing is to either refrain from using wigs that require tape, or to refrain from using the tape/glue on the parts that still have hair. no matter what you use, it can pull out your own hair.

however, if you MUST use tape, soak the spot in an alcohol soaked cotton ball until it lifts on its own. you can also purchase lace release from like amazon.com or alot of the hair sites online and use that and never EVER pull, wait for the tape to lift on its own after you soak the site.
I use "IT Stays" roll on glue, it is super easy, but don't have any hair. It is cheap and the only thing I can find at some shops in Winnipeg. It is an alcohol based so it just wipes off with water. The down side is if you sweat, well there it goes, however it would stay on hair and i use it just on skin. If I don't wipe it off at night though my head will literlly stick to my leather couch, pillow, or head board. My daughter thinks it super funny when the pillow is stuck on my head! This is also used to hold up knee highs, bra straps, theaterical make-up, or to keep the boobs from making a guest appearence! oops!
