Does anyone know if steroid injections to a non active alopecia areata can cause hair loss. I was so stressed about loosing hair I kept pulling at one side to see if hair would come out easily because it seemed to be growing so slowly and much thinner than the other side. They say that is a sign-I think I may have created a spot. I had it injected and now hair seems to be falling out. I am so stressed about this-I wish i could just forget about it. Let me know any feedback.

Probably not. Something similar happned to me. However, it sounds like the shot is not working. I would go back to the Dr asap and ask for another treatment. They have a steroid cream that they can use, and it has worked for me in the past.
I don't believe that steroid injections can cause hairloss. But pulling at your hair and stressing about it can! I know it's hard, but once you start worrying and stressing, it all goes downhill. My first advice is to stop pulling at your hair. If you think it's an active stop, just let it fall out naturally. No need to exacerbate the issue but tugging at your hairs. Second, just stop thinking about it. This is the hardest part, but trust me, once you stop worrying about it all the time, you'll stop focusing on all the hairs falling out, and before you know it hair'll be growing back. Read a good book! Catch-22 is my favorite book, always takes my mind off my problems. And spend time with people you love, nothing takes your mind off of a problem like being with friends or family. And be active, exercise and do yoga, perform breathing exercises. When you sit at home and do nothing, you're more prone to worry, and your thoughts will ALWAYS go back to alopecia
