Went to the dermatologist. She suggested using rogaine or eventually shots, and possibly latisse for eyebrows. Has anyone used any of these. Audrey is 10.

I've read about latisse working for people. I wouldn't recommend shots. I got them and though the hair did grow back it falls out again if you stop getting the shots.

I'd do as much research as you can before starting either of these treatments. Is your derm a specialist in hairloss? I ask because a lot of derms know textbook info about alopecia and nothing more. I felt I knew more about Alopecia than he did just by talking to people on here. I intially started getting shots which helped at first but sometimes I think they do more aggrivation(indentation of the scalp, irritation, and sometimes more shedding) than help. Also I wish my derm would have been more knowledegable about rogaine. Yeah I think it works, but it can cause additional shedding and your scalp/hair follicles even those not affected by AA can become dependent on the medication, meaning discontinuing the product could cause more shedding and I didn't want to have to use it for the rest of my life. I'm not saying do not try any of these things, because I think they can help a lot of people just think it's important to know the pros/cons. Everyone's head is different! Good luck, I wish you and your little girl all the best.

Thank you so much for your responses. We ( Audrey and I really appreciated it) We go again in a month to see another at the same center that specializes in alopecia. I also thought about just having her take biotin for now. the same Dr even suggested prenatal pills.

I used this pill called perfectil and it started regrowth all over my body. It's got all the vitamins you need for hair, nails, and skin.

ok thank you, will look into it

I have done Rogaine and steroid shots in my late teens. To this day I regret having done the steroids, I would never recommend them. As for the Rogaine, it can have some short term benefit, but in the end all I managed to achieve was progressing from alopecia areata to alopecia univerasalis. I now believe it is genetic and nothing topical is going to reverse that, although I had to make the journey with drugs before coming to an acceptance of the fact I am bald, and am going to stay that way. I would suggest if you are paying for treatment the money would be better invested in a good real hair wig made especially for Audrey. Also now I believe steroids are a very nasty drug, that do have a place, but I wouldnt recommend them unless it was a life and death matter.

We go to hair club and she gets a free ( human Hair ) wig every 3 months . and insurance would cover shots.

I looked into rogaine as well and it only works if you continually use it. If you stop using it then the hair stops growing. My doctor told me it was a waste of time and money. I tried the steroid shots, and the creams and they did not work for me at all.

My doctor told me the same thing about rogaine. It's a temp fix it will only make the hair fall out if you stop using it.

Hi there! I've done both shots and rogaine. Both worked temporarily. I would recommend Latisse for eyebrows. I've used this for years and have full eyebrows. I think it's important to remember that alopecia is very unpredictable and different people have different results.

Do you have AU? I really miss my eyebrows and eyelashes. Head hairloss I can deal with but I want my eyebrows!!

I have AA but currently have no significant scalp growth (a few tiny spots of peach fuzz). I've gone through phases of nearly losing all of my eyebrows but have stuck to the plan of Latisse. I have an awesome friend that is currently working on a prosthetic eyebrow! I just saw his work on it 2 weeks ago and it looks amazing! It's nearly undetectable! :) If you're thinking about trying anything topical just remember that 9 times out of 10 you'll have to keep doing it. I'll be happy to provide any tips that may help! Have an amazing day!
