My hair is still falling out!!! The derm is doing steroid injections once a month and my hair is growing back in those areas!! I'm hopeful but will this be continuous? For a lifetime? Anyone experiencing the same thing?

i have alopecia universial i have no hair whatsoever so your very lucky i hope everything goes well for you?

At what age did you start AA. Did the injections every cause you to get little dents in your scalp?

I have an appt in 2 weeks with derm. I haven't had the injections yet, but am hoping they work. My hair keeps falling out. I have been using DNC a 4.5% minoxidil spray, doesn't seem to be working. Sigh...
Well, at least there are really good wigs out there.

do yourself a favor Rose...save your money!!! I've tried everything under the sun and the only thing working are the steroid injections. I've wasted so much time and money searching...hate to see you go through the same thing. My regimin now is using tea tree shampoo and conditioner and every other day I will use apple cider vinegar after I shampoo. I leave it on for 5 min and then rinse and shampoo + conditioner to get the smell out. Everyone has thier own regimin but seems to work for me....as of late anyway. Hope this helps

Linda

I have been through it as well Linda, and am glad that you are seeing results! The steroid injections work on the area only, and it will not stop hair from falling in other areas. Have you tried steroid tablets? I have taken Prednistone (forgive the spelling) on 3 different occasions for up to 3 months each, and it worked for regrowth everywhere. (I had too many spots to inject which is why I was recommended this method)
I have been struggling for almost 3 years and I hope to God that I will not have to deal for a lifetime, but I am trying to stay positive... the tears fall much less now!
Best of luck to you x

You are not putting a damper on anything really...injections are working for me and my hair loss has stopped completely. My hair is filling in everywhere thank God!! Everyone responds differently...sorry to hear that you are going through this. My hair loss was due to an extreme weight loss over the summer and plus I had other issues going on. So psychologically and physically I was run down. The past few months I've been doing everything in my power to get my health back.Taking vitamins etc..I feel really bad knowing that some people don't have any hair at all. I'm very thankful for what I have. I truly wish there was a magical cure for everyone with alopecia. If you don't mind me asking what kind of side effects were you experiencing? I will say this if I didn't have hair at all I most likely would be wearing a wig...not that I would want to but life goes on.
