So I heard some amazing news this past week. I went to the dermatologist and he told me my alopecia areata is finally inactive! I'm thrilled about the news, it has been a long, painful journey. However, I still can't help but remain skeptical. My hair still seems to be falling out quite a bit in the shower. How much is normal? I can't remember what normal is.

If you don't mind - could you elaborate on what made your dermatologist say your alopecia areata is inactive? My dermatologist and trichologist say I have promising regrowth, but that my AA is still active, since I lose about 100-200 hairs on days I wash my scalp, and 50+ on days when I don't. :(

I'm so happy for you!!! For me, normal was losing a max of 50-60 hairs on days I washed my hair, and a max of maybe 10-15 on days when I didn't wash my hair. But like you...I really can't remember what normal is anymore. For example, my Google searching tells me 100..even 150 hairs lost in the wash is normal, but I can say that it isn't normal for me.

Be well, and I hope you have more good news to come!! :D
