I've been going out in public completely bald for about 5 months. I get some strange looks and only had one negative reaction from some preteen boys. Most of the time, I feel completely ordinary. But I do get compliments once in a while. Today I was walking around the inner harbor in Baltimore when this woman in the crowd made eye contact. In the brief moment I looked at her, I could tell she was wearing a wig. To my surprise she silently mouthed the words "you look absolutely beautiful." I said thank you and probably blushed a little. And as I continued navigating the crowd my eyes got watery and I just had to smile and this random gift. This stranger and I connected on some higher plane for a moment. I was touched by her kindness and I was strangely filled with confidence for the rest of the evening. I even flirted shamelessly with my adorable waiter at dinner. I just wanted to send my gratitude to her someway, this seemed like an appropraite forum to do so. Thank you for your wisdom, understanding, and random kindness. You can be sure that I will pass it on to every bald woman I see and know. You are absolutely beautiful!

Now write it on your bathroom mirror in colorful lipstick so you will be reminded every day!
Awesome Sarah! We are chipping away at the notion that a bald woman can't be as beautiful as the next. I love the way you expressed that the 2 of you connected on a higher plane for a moment. What a great way to explain the experience. Again awesome Sarah.
Beautiful! I have moments like this, too. As Cheryl says, each time one of us goes out in public bald, we're chipping away at the old assumptions and prejudices.
Sarah,

And now with your post, you have given me the strength to go through with my Head Shaving Party on Labor Day Weekend. And you are absolutely beautiful.
That is a wonderful story : )
lovely! I bet the waiter flirted back, too.
