Hey there folks.  Met a wonderful couple last night and they told me about this place they had started on the net.  So here I am.

I have Alopecia Areata, and have had that for 41 years.  Wow.  Always knew it had been with me for a while, but saying it like that really puts my journey into perspective.

I started loosing my hair when I was three, and by the time I hit first grade, I was bald.  There were stages back and forth with how much hair I had while between three and six/seven, but it was there.

Grade school was hell as I was picked on pretty much every day to some extent.  6th grade started a new school and a wig.  Yeah, people found out pretty quick, but nobody really made a deal of it.

Then it fell off during a basketball game in 10th grade.  Graduated and went to college, still wore a wig till about 23, then shaved what little hair I did have and just stopped wearing them.

Been going strong ever since.Been married for 17 years and have two wonderful children who show no signs of Alopecia.

While involved with a support group in the late 90's, was invited to be on a local talk show.  That was a lot of fun.  Still wore a wig at that point...my perspective would be different now.

Hmmm...think that about sums up the basics.  Any questions?
