Hi all

I'm about to go to my first naturopath appointment with a renowned naturopath in Perth, Western Australia. He doesn't take on new patients anymore but I think he may have been intrigued by my AA and has agreed to see me.

I have never been to one in the past and am hopeful that I may have some success in getting my body in balance. Im not really sure what to expect .

I'm wondering if anyone has had success in this area maybe? Eager to hear your thoughts!

AND.... I know that lots of people generally don't believe in naturopaths, at this point though, I remain open to possibility.....

Please don't respond with the reasons why I'm wasting my money etc - I'm really interested to hear success stories here!

Hi Aimee

Well I have to say it was a fascinating appointment. He went straight to the hormornal imbalances in my body as a result of being on medication for my back for a few years. I actually think he may have fixed my back - touch wood!

The prescribed supplements are no more expensive than the home remedies I was prescribing myself, so thats all fine.

If he can fix my back so I dont need surgery and stop my AA in its tracks well Im willing to have faith! Ive been off my back meds now for 48 hours - previously couldnt sleep through the night or get out of bed in the morning without them.

And yes it makes sense that any success stories sneak away, I get that now. What a pity they dont stick around to support others. But busy lives and outa mind outa sight also makes a lot of sense! lol

I talk in riddles!

Please remember that when hair grows back, either as a result of treatment or otherwise, this does not mean that AA has gone away, because it sits waiting for another opportunity to attack.  I have had it and continue to have it for the whole of my life, it is under control and I come on here to support newly diagnosed sufferers as it is a very scary road to go down on your own, like I had to back in 1978 before any type of support group even existed, let alone the internet!!

I don't consider that I am ever cured and hence I am not passing on a 'success story' as suggested, rather, I have been down that road and I come here to possibly help others, why should it matter if I am not on here regularly?  I no longer need support, but have helpful information to pass on to others, it just amazes me that others out there continue to be negative towards others as it might not fit their own preconceived understanding of AA, pity about that, which is the main reason I don't come on here often. Isn't it better to take advice from a fellow sufferer of AA who has walked that road and regrown their hair as opposed to someone who has never had it and is only following prescribed treatments with hair growth, and making money out of it at the same time, so in a way it is going to benefit the practitioner if hair doesn't re-grow because if it does then no more appointments are necessary.  When no money changes hands but the time invested to come on here occasionally, surely that speaks for itself.........

I know how much you have helped ME in the last few days, I only hope I do the same for others too in the future

What did the naturopath prescribe as far as supplements? My daughter is seeing a naturopath tomorrow for the 2nd time. Last month she put her on supplements for her liver. Also said that she has addrenal fatigue. She has had AA for three years, lost all her hair, grew it back completely and is losing it again. I am very interested in finding the root of her issues.

My answer to your question is with one word   " S T R E S S "

Are you responding to me?

Flaxseed oil and intrefem for hormone balancing. I wouldn't take them without consulting a naturopath first as these were needed for me not for my AA as such.

Definitely wouldn't give her anything without speaking to her doctor.....

Good luck with your protocol.
