I am a musician and I don't wear wigs, etc. When I am photographed, my face gets washed out in photos, as I don't have hair. I have looked up contouring my face with makeup but would like to know if anyone out there has had any experience with being made up for professional photos, videos while being bald? There must be something more specific for us. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

I started using make-up when I lost my hair and you can become an expert at applying your own.

At first, I could never put my eye brows on right.

They would always be too high or too low and I used to get upset and start screaming and had to start all over.   I found out that if I raised my eyebrows up and drew inside the line it creates, I could get  good placement.   You need a steady hand.

Also, are you really letting them photograph you with no hair?

I won't tell other people what to do, but I never leave my home without any head cover and would never think about going before any audience with my head exposed since I associate it with being undressed.

I hope you find a solution.

Hi Lily!  Not for commercial reasons but did it myself in Antwerp:

I would go to a Mac Cosmetics salon. (In Amsterdam one of their Mua’s has alopecia)

They have skilled MUA’s and you can do workshops (eyes/brows/ contouring etc) and for the

amount of the workshop you can pic and choose make up in their store so

they teach skills while doing make up. Some do make up for shoots etc as well.

I think on their website you can find a database of their MUA’s:

Thank you. I've been thinking of going to Mac Cosmetics or Ulta.

You’re welcome. Tell them your wishes and ask if they know someone in their team who is best suitable for the job. (Maybe someone with alopecia)

Succes with your choice & Keep on rocking

I was 9 when I lost all my hair and facial hair I use to spend hours on doing my makeup from getting those eyebrows right to gluing on lashes. As older I got the more I started learning about how to cover my diease from the world. Today I order my wigs from eBay those expensive silk top ones I also order eyebrow wigs and lashes from eBay. This diease is a learning process your not going to perfect it on your first try but you can learn from YouTube which helped me a lot with applying makeup. I wish you luck on whatever your looking for.

Thanks for responding. I do not cover my "disease" from the world. I don't consider alopecia a disease. Thankfully, I won't die from it. I'm trying to find ways to learn proper contouring as I don't wear wigs. Glad all you do works for you.

Is there a beauty school in your area ? Maybe you can be their model ? I consider a a to be a condition. At 50 it all feel out and 8 said Screw it and shaved what was left. It was the most amazing feeling of FREEDOM!  No more hiding !This is me!#itsmynormal

An effective way to treat hair loss and hope to help you.

1. Massage scalp
Whenever you wash your hair, you are in the middle: massage the head in the shower will improve blood flow to the scalp. This means a better hair growth environment, but it also helps you use any hair shampoo penetration.

2.Wear wigs cover
Wearing a wig can be used to modify the appearance, change human hair weaves style is simple and convenient, save time: you can avoid perm, hair, hair damage caused by hair; you can save your hairstyle in the hair salon, bleaching and dyeing, reduce Expenses; Wigs can be free to change hairstyles, avoid frequent hair salon haircut hair damage; can try a variety of different hairstyle design, matching different fashion, so wearing a wig increasingly people's apes.

3. Reduce the use of hair dryers
This is the simplest fix that you have never considered. Hair dryers and irons, especially if you have already coloured, may cause breakage and thinning, so reduce your use as much as possible.

4. Improve your diet
Hair thrives on protein, iron, zinc, and vitamin B12. Get them from lean meats, leafy greens, nuts, beans, and fish. (Fish will put you on the right track.)  You’re halfway there every time you shampoo: massaging your head in the shower improves blood flow to the scalp.

5. Relieve stress
Just breathing - seriously, it can help. Both sudden and chronic stress can stop hair growth. If you have experienced a challenging experience (divorce, change of work), hair should grow back. If you are under constant pressure, then the Zen Master - it is easier said than done, but your hair will thank you.
