Hello,

So for the last few weeks now, I have been losing patches of eye lashes (But only on one eye) Which has really been irritating my eye, and I tend to wake up in the morning with lots of 'sleep' in my eye.

Has anyone else had this?

Also, what do women without eyelashes do?  Maybe it's because I am blonde, but without mascara, I tend to look ill. Now I have strips of no eyelashes, it does look odd. Any amazing make up tips?

Thank you for reading!

Hi Lizzie

My daughter tends to wear a false lash... there are many available.  It is a bit of a pfaff learning to put them on but once you work it out, it can be done very efficiently.

I think the facial hair is the most difficult to loose and I'm sure this is causing real concern, but if you find something that you feel comfortable with (false lashes) it may help.

Good luck with everything.

Hi.  I started losing my eyebrows first and before they were even completely gone..I decided to get permanent makeup. It was instant relief.  I had to go back after 6 weeks for a touch up and by then my eyelashes were completely starting to thin out..I was actually curling my lashes one afternoon and as I released the curler, they all came out.  OMG...that was a crazy awful moment.  I went to the other eye and I can just pull them out...and I did and I cried and cried!!!  So, I decided to get liner done as well.. when I went to retouch my eyebrows.  It just created a lash line..once healed, I was always wearing fake lashes and finally got tired of that and only wore them on occasions.  I don't really even do that now.  I just thicken the permanent line on my eyelids and since I have big brown eyes..many can't even tell I don't have lashes till I mention it.  So, permanent make-up is definitely a great way to go!

Thank you :)

I am pretty used to losing hair now. It's not nice, but I think I'm okay with it.

Thank you Rose,  I have had a go at putting on false lashes (That went awfully wrong the first time! But I think I'm getting there.)

Thank you for your kind words and advice :)

Hi Lizzie,

I still miss my eyelashes....Stuff gets in my eyes and it's annoying.  I try to keep them moist with an OTC eye drop.  This helps flush out stuff the eyelashes used to catch.  I'm not sure you ever get used to it, but with time it seems less of a problem.

Hi Aimee,

I am glad to hear you got your lashes back. What form of iron are you taking??? It is possible to develop an iron overload.  If you are not anemic and the iron is not going into the formation of new red blood cells, sometimes it can build upon the liver. Not a good thing.  Check with your M.D. Ask for a 'liver panel', just to be safe.  Thanks!

That sounds great. There is an old glaucoma eye drop that has recently been FDA approved for eyelash regrowth. Its called Lumigan. I got samples from my eye Dr. The literature is good regarding eyelash growth and there are almost no side effects. You just rub the liquid over your eyelids. If it gets in your eye it's OK. I'll post if it works.

You should call of an Rx. Derms and eye docs have the most samples.

I was afraid to try the glaucoma drops for lash growth since I have blue eyes and I heard it can darken the pigment of light eyes.

Hi Lizzie-

I'm a brunette and i started using liquid eyeliner....took me some practice, I very, very rarely even wore makeup prior to becoming AU within the last year.  The liquid I use, seems to stay on for hours, doesn't flake, and people seem surprised if I tell them I have no eyelashes.   There are a lot of YouTube videos that I watched to learn...

I did not have the problem with "sleep", but I definately was poking myself in the eyes a lot in the beginning lol  That has been better - I must have adapted.

Wish you all the best.

I am also a pale white person and have no eyelashes - so I know what you mean.  (I always think people with more colour and nicely shaped heads are must luckier alopecians than myself, a bumpy headed whitey!)  However, over the years, I have become a master of applying eyeliner.  People compliment my eyes all the time and I have gotten so good at it, I can do it very quickly.  I used to also apply fake eyelashes before i would go out and see anyone, but once I got married and settled down, the eye lashes came off, for the most part.  I love wearing them, but they are a hassle and a bit uncomfortable, so I mostly stick to the eye liner.  In your current position I would try two things.  1. If you apply eye liner but no mascara, then perhaps the remaining eyelashes won't be very noticeable and the smooth black line is all you'd really see, or 2.  apply fake eyelashes which will be much easier to glue on to your remaining eyelashes, though this might speed up their disappearance, I don't know.  Good luck.

As far as dealing with the lashes falling out, I don't know... it happened a long time ago for me and I remember it being uncomfortable but I don't think I did anything that eased that discomfort.  Get a good eye wash?  Take care.

Look up revitalash many of our clients have great success using it. We at hairofhope.com give it out as a gift with purchase of a Capelli. Put it on twice a day for the first 3-4 weeks and watch them grow.. Yes you will have to continue using it but the reward will be worth it.

After reading your post I was going to try Revitalash.  When I read reviews quite a few people said the formula has been changed and it doesn't work like it use to. Have you heard this? What is the difference in Revitalash Advanced Conditioner and Relitalash Nouriche?  Thanks for any help on this.

Thank you everyone, this is great advice.

I've lost all of my lashes now, over roughly the space of  week.

Take care everyone xx
