So I recently went back to see my doctor and she said the shots were helping my spot so I went a head and recieved another dose of the painful injections . Since then my scalp has been much more itchy. Is it normal for someone with alopecia to have a itchy scalp ? I there any kind of soothing shampoo to use ? Also my doctor told me to stop eating all animal based foods . She stresses this to me so much does anyone think this could be benifical to my alopecia . ? I wish this would go away already . One woman I know told me she lost a big patcth about 9 years ago and she didnt even go to the doctors . She was just trying home remidies such as olive oil . She claims her hair was back in three months . Has anyone heard of any home remedies that worked?

My head itches when my hair is falling out, and as far as I know, there are no home remedies to make your hair grow back. It seems to just grow back if it wants to. I use dandruff shampoo thats mentholated for the itching. It seems to help sooth it for a little bit. I got the shots once and decided just to let me hair do what it wants to do. Good luck with everything!
Neutrogena T-GEL shampoo works really good. Your head actually gets pretty cold with it!!
I never heard of any home remedies. My head use to itch when I did the injections too. And sometimes still itches, from the excema that I have aswell. Menthol type shampoos do help soothe the itch and scalp. As well as aloe vera if you tend to be the more sensitive type. I would recommend a more pure form (the skin lotions on the shelf usually have more additives than aloe) Olive oil??? stop eating animal based foods???? Never heard of anything. In my experience alopecia is going to do what it wants to do. The injections, as my doctor says, only treats the area being done and once stopped your immune system will do what it wants. I have been doing the ups and downs for over a decade.
Hang in there and all the best with whatever you decide.
I have Chronic Telogen Effluvium and Trichodynia (scalp pain). I actually had to make an emergency appointment with my derm yesterday because the itching was so bad. I go through cycles of pain and itching. I lose the most hair on the itchy days. I also saw white flakes and it hurt so bad along with the itching. I was diagnosed with Seborrheac Dermatitis. She prescribed 2% Ketokonazole shampoo. I verified this with another derm and he said that it was very gentle and they use it on babies as well. It is supposed to kill the bacteria that is causing the inflammation, itching and pain. I am going to try it tonight. I was also told to alternate between Head and Shoulders and the Ketoknoazole. I am praying for good results. Oh yea, stress contributes to the bacteria growing faster. Easier said than done not to be stressed in situations like ours, right? Good luck and I will keep you posted how the Ketokonazole works...
I think I know what shampoo you were perscribed , my son , an infant had to use it for baby eczema cause he would scratch his head so bad that he would leave big gashes on his scalp . It didnt work for him cause it dried him out more . but I actually was thinking about using it to see if it relieves any of my itching . It does seem like some days are worse then others , on the itchy note . Keep me posted
I will definitely let you know how it goes! I'm scared to use it, but from what the docs and pharmicists say, it seems to be widely used and gentle.
