Pretty common....and annoying!

itching is common when the inflammtion and congregation of T-cells are increasing at the bulb of the follicle.

Personally, I've found that Sarna over the counter is effective. Also, Desoximetasone cream by prescription.

Jojoba oil. Pour a few drops into your hands and massage in with fingertips at night. Sleep on it. Don't use too much or your pillow will get oily.

I even add a drop or 2 to my shampoo and conditioner. The itches went away.

Trader Joe's, Whole Foods....

Great stuff.
My head gets itchy, too, but lately I've noticed that the tops of my ears BURN pretty bad. It literally feels like I just had them pierced at the top...so, it feels kind of inflamed! Wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Is it common to AA or do I need to have my ears checked? :-?
No itchy scratchies for me knock wood....I use rosemary mint Aveda body wash and it keeps me feeling and smelling just fine.
Hi Paul, Count me in on that one! My scalp not only itches, but burns often. At times I think it's psycological because I've manifested such a monster within me as a result my hair loss, but then I am always looking to seek meidcal answers once in for all! I am sorry you are experiencing this discomfort, but I totally understand. It's just awful! Hopefully as we get more answers, this too will subside.
I wouldn't notice new itching! I have had severe dandruff from birth and have long used a coal tar based shampoo a couple times a week. But I agree with Thea that Sarna is really good at reducing itching.
I could always tell new patches were appearing by itching, I'm afraid. Now I'm just rapidly thinning generally the itching isn't too bad but yeah, jojoba oil is ace. It's the closest vegetable oil to natural sebum and does lovely, lovely things to skin everywhere, not just your scalp.
Oh yes I get itching even though I have no hair at all. i can tell when it is starting as I get a red rash as well.
You are not alone we all seem to get this
An itchy, or a burning scalp can often be remedied with diluted Apple Cider Vinegar.

Whats your diet like? Do you have an itch in other parts of the body?
