I have been married for 34 years & I'm separated from my husband. I believe he's unable to get past my appearance. I'm contemplating divorce. He never tells me that I'm attractive. I never thought that being an alopecian would ruin a marriage of 34 years. At this time in my life I am happy and I am in tune with myself. What I want to know is this, "Are there men out there that can get past the hair phobia and give unconditional love? ". Am I asking for too much?

I must say what a beautiful way to meet your boyfriend. I can see that messaging would help a person better understand Alopecia Areata Universalis.  I have the courage to reveal my true inner and outer beauty.

Thank you LadyHila!

While I am so sorry to hear that alopecia has disrupted your 34 year marriage, I am glad to hear that you are happy with you.

I was divorced before I was diagnosed with alopecia.  I've been in my current relationship for 16 years and even after he found out about my alopecia areata he remained supportive and loving. Since I shaved my head completely bald he's offered suggestions on how to care for my scalp and what to do to eliminate shaving bumps.

So yes, I believe there are men that are not hung up, so to speak, on hair.  Unfortunately, many view hair as what makes a woman sexy and feminine and those are the ones that aren't worth anybody's time.  No, you are not asking for too much, you are only asking for what you deserve.

Although your husband may be unwilling or incapable of giving you that have faith that there is someone who can and will.

You are beautiful! I hope your husband comes to his senses, if not it's his loss.

God bless.

Thank you, Sabrina!

Not sure but love is a good feeling that does not involve alopecia or whatever the reason is?

If you feel he is unable to see past your alopecia and you are separated then divorce is the right thing. Please believe me that there is men out there that will see past it. I thought there were no men out there that would accept my hair loss but last year I finally did
Thank you, Jewelzy! You are on point.
I'm glad I could help :)
