No one in my family has it at least up to my grandparents' generation but it frightens me that there may have been some genetic element passed down or earlier generations who had it which I could potentially pass on. Having had Alopecia for the best part of my life, including as a child, its been horrible and though i love and adore children and would like to have my own someday, I'd hate to pass it on even if there was a remote possibility. Its a tough dilemma, a lot of fear involved and I'm still double minded about it.
Wow. No offence, but this post really offends me. I'm almost gobsmacked, i don tknow what to say.

Alopecia does not make someone a better or worse person. Children are the most amazing gift we can get, and you are worreid about having some incase they one day get alopecia/

Goodness, i'm really saddened you would think that, on behalf of all kids out there who need loving parents.

The only people that should be scared to have kids, are those who can't look after themselves properly and tehrefore can't provide the love and care that children need. I dont know you, but assuming that it's just alopecia that is makin gyou scared, don't worry :) We can't control life, adn we certainly can't control what gene our children may or may not get. Ever watched the movie "gattaca"? It's quite scary, but certainly a good movie to make us think about things.

I guess teh thing is, we just dont kno what's going to happen in life, adn really, if we're scared of doing things, just because of something that may happen, that's not really a good way to live at all.

If you love kids, and want them, have them. dont let hair conditions influence that decision :) Kids are gorgeous, and who really cares if they are tall, short, fat, skinny, blonde, brunette, curly, alopecia, freckles...
