Hello! As I posted a couple of days ago, I bought my first full lace, remy human hair wig. It came from China. I love the hair except for the godawful smell it makes when it gets wet. I washed it which helped when it dried, but let it get wet, and it smells. I wrote to the vendor to see what they suggest. I've seen videos on YouTube that say to wash the hair in a solution of Downy and water, but I'm afraid it will loosen the knots. Anybody have any ideas? TIA! :)

I say to air it out...put it in a hair stand and leave it alone, if you can't you can get those laundry dry sheets and put it in the wig box to absorb the smell?

I had an online chat with the company and used a combination shampoo/conditioner shampoo. That's made it much better. :)

Thank you for your story, but this still doesn't tell me how to get the smell out of my wig; it just promotes your business.

Step 1.
Remove all dirty by running tooth comb through the wig to ensure that there is no any tangible and heavy, dirty particles that can cause more problem when cleaning.
Step 2.
With the help of clean water and cold to be precise, take a conditioning shampoo with some nice scent to clean the wig. This will enable your wig to remain with admirable scent all through.
Step 3.
Hold your wig well and deep it inside the water and let it relax there for more than 5 minutes. This will allow all the to be ready to get out.
Step 4.
After 5 minutes, turn the wig around the water and make sure that the dirty comes out.Keep on doing that and changing water untill the wig turns clean. It will take you some time to do all this but the end results is what is important. Because of sweat and and the hair products that you might have been using, the wig might be sticky on your hands,so use hand washing soaps to clean your hands toroughly.
Step 5
Drain the dirty water from the basin and replace it with clean water. Then again rinse the wig by making sure that there is no shampoo remaining.Keep on rinsing untill no more suds remains in the water. You must be patient because the oil in the wig can take a bit of time to come out in full.
Step 6
Get the wig out of water and make sure there is no any excess water remaining. maybe you can use a towel to get out the water but remember not to straighten the wig with a comb when it is in such state, you will cause some harm on it.
Step 7
Your wig is ready to dry.Hold your wig with a lot of care, and get a nice place where it can dry.Avoid places with a lot dust or where wind can blow the dust to reach on your wig. Maintaing the wig shape it is important, so if you have a wig hunger the better because it can dry as it retains the round shape.

Thanks, but I did/do this already. I contacted the company and subsequent units don't have the smell anymore.

The wig actually smelled like cigarette smoke/corn chips, which was probably from the person who ventilated the wig in the first place. I contacted the seller about it, and subsequent units have been fine. You keep trying to hawk your wares here and you have yet to offer any solution to the original question. I'm not interested in what you're trying to sell, and it's not the purpose of this thread.

All wigs come from china also the ones big reselleres sell form 4000.8000 euro...only you must wash like make the reselleres that sell them for these so high prices.
