Though I am a new member to this forum .. I have read almost every single discussion here, since I was diagnosed with AA during the end of last year.

It all started with a half of an eyebrow and an 1-inch patch on the back of my head. The dermatologist gave me steroid shots on my scalp. But I refused to take shots on my eyebrows as the dr. said that there is a small chance of losing vision, when you get steroid shots on the eyebrows. I was not stressed that much actually.. I was like. . I got the shots .. and the hair is gonna grow back. I didn't even care to check the patch again. . I didn't even google on AA. I was totally not worried at all.. I had a followup with the dermatologist after 4 weeks. And I casually checked the spot at like after 3 weeks or so. And I found that the 1 inch spot was not 1 inch .. it was like 4 inches wide !..  (By God's grace, I have dense hair. . and the 4 inch spot was totally concealed at the back of my head..) I went to the dermatologist. . and he said, the AA was spreading faster that he could give shots.. And theres nothing much that can be done. he said it could go in either direction..  I may lose all my hair or it will all grow back. In another 2 weeks .. there were 6 to 8 new spots on my scalp which were about 1-inch. . (on the front/ side. . behind the ears. .. everywhere..) so I practically had 3 or so more weeks .. for each of these spots to grow wider and then I'll not be able to conceal any longer.. So I went ahead and bought a wig.

And here is the list of things/ drugs I desperately tried and did not help even a single bit.

1) Dr Rohit Shah's ayurvedic oils (300$)

2) CALCIPOTRIENE 0.005% SOL 60ML

3) CLOBETASOL PROPIONATE GEL 0.05% (topical and shots (3 times))

4) TACROLIMUS 0.03% (PROTOPIC) OINT

And then starting from Jan 1st, after reading a lot. . here is what I tried

1) Started a very strict anti-inflammatory diet - no sugar, no lactose, no gluten, no citrus fruits, no potatoes, corn and egg plants ... ate brown rice.. lot of fish, spinach and broccoli smoothies, berry smoothies every day

2) Exercised everyday

3) Bought an inversion table. and did inversions every day..

Its been exactly 3 months now.. I felt that the spreading stopped right within the first 10 days. . I really knew that it stopped spreading .. as it was spreading so visibly fast. . In 3 months. . the newer spots have completely disappeared. . and the biggest 4+ inches wide spot is still filling, but it has hair (at different lengths) everywhere..

I am a christian ... and I have been praying that God will show me a way out of this AA .. and I am glad he did show me a way. And I just wanted to pass this on to people who are undergoing the same thing. . as I know how hard it is ..
