I’ve seen a lot of posts throughout the years about new mirical treatments. But I think over the past decade or so there have been some major breakthroughs. I was wondering if the people on here that are scientific and know about recent news can speculate on how close we are to curing Alopecia? With the way technology keep exponentially increasing I would love to hear how close people think we resonabley are.

I heard that university of Queensland is developing a gene therapy to cure alopecia, asthma, and other conditions.
For a treatment we are already there. Some tweaking and having approval from insurance in the next few years... around 2020 at least. Because now we do it off label.

Cure: very far. Very very far.

Oh and to the people who say am wrong, then answer me 1 question... we all know alopecia is underfunded... Of ALL autoimmune diseases can you name ONLY one that they find a cure for?
SNA for children

what is SNA

I meant sma *

Sma is a neurological disease... not an autoimmune disease like RA/Crohns/Psoriasis etc...  nice try but please do minimum of research before posting. We live with a disease that we do not really understand. Reading wrong info is going backward.

Autoimmune disease have no cure for the moment, only treatment. Unless you live on another planet.

The il2 program doing trials in France right now looks very positive also
What is il2 program? Chris

here is a thread about it

http://www.alopeciaworld.com/forum/topics/interleukin-2-low-dose-th...

an initial trial with very small sample size had good long lasting results, and there is currently a larger trial happening. Kevin from this forum is in the trial, but it is a double blind so he may not know if he is in the placebo group

Got it and keep the fingers crossed for iL 2. Thanks!
Not so much.
Nothing official came out yet and Dr Passeron said it's still way too early.
A member of this forum is doing it... to my knowledge he still bald.
And nothing says that IL2 is a cure... U could have a relapse and go under il2 again.
