Help! I have a flat head shape and can't seems to fit a wig properly!

So I finally made peace with trying on wigs and considering wearing one only to find out I have an odd shaped head. My head is completely flat and non of the wigs I tried will stay on. I've tried tightening it but it still rides up? Anyone have this problem or am I the only feak? I still have air and I'm not ready to shave it. I'm just so upset!! I feel so self conscious already about how thin my hair has gotten and now I feel even crappier that I can't even wear a wig!! I don't know what to do!! HELP!!

Try customise wigs ..... No you aren't the only one..Some do have trouble with wigs sizes...

I did ask about that but was told I would have the same problem. I figured why would the guy lie? It would be easy for him to take my $3000 They suggested bonding but I can't as I need access to my scalp to apply medication. I feel at times the universe is playing a cruel joke on me.

My head is small -- short ear-to-ear and relatively flat in the back. The only thing that really works for me is ordering custom lace wigs. I've been sending my measurements to a vendor in China, and they have returned both full lace and lace-front caps that fit perfectly.

Hi, I have a small head and I believe it's similarly shaped and wondered if you might share the contact info for the vendor you ordered your custom lace wigs from. I have never worn a wig but my hair is thinning due to a medicine that I take and I am thinking of trying one.

Thank you.

Thanks for all you're replies!!

Hi Andrea, You can try custom wig. If you can make template/pattern, you can order for a very good head shaped wig. Otherwise you will need these six measurements (exactly) of your head.

What about a 3/4 wig or large Topper? You can get as large as 8 by Topper called a whopper Hand tied. Or smaller if you do not need as much coverage. That would hug your scalp. You use small toupee clips to attach.

3/4 wigs work well if you still have hair and want to utilize it. They can be custom made for as little as $600.00. I like the idea of having the mono or silk top with wefted sides better because you can attach without clips using very small bobby pins, or integrate some of your own hair through it.

I, and many others, have the same problem with keeping my wig down in back.  Its not a problem with fit as much as it is having a head that is flat in the back.  No occipital lobe bump to hold things down.  I can't even keep a stocking cap down and in place.

Anyway, there are solutions.  If you still have hair and your thinning is mainly at the crown, you might want to try a topper as they can be held on with clips to your bio hair or glue.  Got 2be glued spiking gel just takes a bit and comes out with water.  Toppers come in all sizes and colors.

Since you wear long hair, you can use double sided tape at the nape of the wig to hit just at or barely below your hairline.   I use precut 3" strips from 1/2" to 3/4" wide and it holds my wigs down in our very windy area.  The glue will work also.

You might also want to check that your wig is not fitting so tightly that it rides up.  Is it tight or does it give you a headache?  There are easy fixes if this is your problem.

For more ideas, if you are a member of Facebook, I suggest you join a couple of their closed groups (postings can only be seen by group members).  They are a supportative bunch of gals in each group and you'll learn great tips for everything wigs.  A couple of the groups are:  Jessica's Wig Support, Hair Loss Sisters, Helper Hair, and for wig sales there is:  Jessica's Wig Spin Off, HLS Buy Sell & Trade.  There are also groups for AA and AU which have helpful info.

My head is also flat in the back (1.5 inches below average). I found a padded head cover that can be used as a wig cap from Headcovers Unlimited. It is intended to be used under scarves.  I hope it helps you if you decide to give it a try. I just ordered mine but I’ll check back in and let you know how I like it after I give it a try.

I received the cap from headcovers unlimited and it’s perfect!  It fits like a longer version of a  skullcap and keeps my wig from riding up in the back. My wig is also less baggy in the back. It doesn’t affect the fit with the circumference of my head. Thank you Headcovers Unlimited!!

Hello,

The best thing for you to do is get a custom wig made. Because of the shape of your head you will have to get a wig that exactly matches the circumference of your head and the front of your head to the back nape measurements so the wig stays on (alongside 4 other measurements which someone else has commented already) An elastic band would also help to keep the wig on your head. The position of the elastic band is very very important though ! It has to be sewn at a level that lines up with your earlobes. You can also use got 2 b glue spray or the gel as an adhesive to keep the wig in place. If applied properly it can lay up to 3 days and then can be applied again. It can also be taken off very easily with some water. Hope this helps

These are things I learnt through making and wearing wigs myself (I learnt how to make them to help my friend who lost all of her hair).

if anybody is interested in a frontal or closure wig I have some of my work below (all human hair)
