Hi!just curious if anyone on here has had heavy-metal toxicity ? Was this the cause of your alopecia? Any success with regrowth after you did a detox? My daughter did a hair anayalisis and it showed heavy metals. Her doctor thinks this is the cause.
Thanks!

You ought to consider taking your daughter for a second opinion, from a well respected MD associated with a reputable teaching hospital. If your daughter actually has heavy metal toxicity, alopecia is the least of her problems. There are a lot of charlatans out there who will offer "heavy metal" testing via a hair sample and then try to sell you detox solutions - basically, potions - that do nothing. Did this doctor tell which metal showed up in your daughter's hair sample? His test should be able to differentiate between arsenic, chromium, mercury, etc. Did the test turn up positive for multiple of these metals? That would be difficult to achieve - presumably your daughter isn't exposed to high levels of mercury and digesting arsenic on a regular basis. Go get a second opinion, from someone who isn't associated with this doctor, from someone who does not practice "functional medicine," and make sure that your daughter receives liver and thyroid panels to rule out serious illness. If she has androgenic alopecia and no other symptoms, thank your lucky stars and focus on helping her live with it rather than live in denial.
