I just went to the dermatologist last week. She gave me a prescription for Anthralin 1%. Has anyone used this cream before? If so, could you please tell me how long you leave it on for. Also, was this med used in conjunction with other meds or just by itself. My dermatologist said she didn't prescribe it often and wanted to start me out 2 minutes and increase the duration until a reaction was produced. I would really appreciate others experience and knowledge on this product.

Hi - I am disappointed to see you did not get any responses yet as I found your post looking for the same info as you. I recently got Anthralin 1% and I was told to apply it (very thinly) for 5 minutes a night before removing it and showering with shampoo etc. So far I have done so for two nights but I have had no response/itchiness etc. Wondering how you got on with it. Is a reaction necessary or does it work without necessarily creating redness? Hoping it worked for you!

Hello. I have been on that for about two months now. My dermalogist calls it drithrocreme. Did not do anything for me sorry to say. I left mine on all night. Just made my scalp peel.

Hi Tracey. I have the drithocreme too. I read some more and came to the conclusion that it should be applied once a day for 5 minutes, then wiped off and residue washed away with shampoo. If the response isn't strong enough then it can be extended by 5 minutes per day per week until up to 20 minutes a day. I haven't read anywhere that it should be left on over night, in fact it says in the directions that it should be removed. This may be why you are getting the peeling. As far as I can see the desired effect is that it causes agitation and that distracts the immune system from attacking the hair follicles.

I'm still a rookie with it, only been using it 3 days but I have been applying it at night before bed then removing. I did wonder that it wasn't causing any redness or irritation but I think it has a cumulative effect so it will grow over time. Before I started, I put a little on my forearm for 5 minutes then wiped it off. At the time there was no reaction but I have noticed that that area I put it on is now a little red and inflamed as if it took a few days to work.

Anyone else have experience with this?
