Alopecia is now thought to be genetic (see the Research in Discussions), but also sort of "dormant." Many believe food, chemical changes, environmental changes or stress can activate the alopecia. No one knows for sure yet. I got AU once when living in a rural area of the western U.S., so it may even be exposure to animals or the chemicals used in weed/pest control (thus in water, air, crops or dirt, too). Mystery.
So It could have been dormant, and what I ate may have triggered It, I have never been able to figure out why just scaple area, why not my face or could that be comming ? It's been 12yrs, I dont to talk your ear off, thank you
The genes found also appear with other conditions (see Research section on Discussions for my posts), and there may be a family link. I think 16 gene markers are found in those with AU, as opposed to AA with 12. Probably none of us can afford gene testing, and just have to see which type of alopecia we get. Surprise, surprise, surprise...

Sounds like yours is AA or AT. I had AA ages 10-20, then growth to late 30s, AU for about a year in 1994, then AT only. Everyone is different.
Your right the bottom line Is everyone Is different, just what little I have left I have become fond of, lol , and If I knew It was going to go In a few year's I could start getting a mind set, but thank you so much for the reply, very nice of you
