Hello, My name is Barbara. This is my first time posting I just joined this website. I was recently diagnosed with alopecia areata a few months ago, I’m wondering if anyone can tell me if it’s OK to color my hair. Will that make the condition worse? thank you very much

Years ago I believed that hair color could not change anything that is internal, but now I notice many women that have colored all their lives end up with dry, broken hair. I now believe that if you have any chronic condition it is best to do as little as possible with chemicals.

If your Alopecia is severe enough, just wear a wig.It is safe, and you can have any hair you want, just have to pick the right piece-that is the hard part!

I'm allergic to hair dye. but I did use henna and I was fine. There are also topical Keratin products to sprinkle on along with a mist of hair spray for camouflage.

Good luck!

Jeff

Thanks so much!
