HI

I went from a mass of thick hair to AU within 6 months in 2015.

I have a comfortable family life, good job, not much stress, good health -- although overweight and too much sugar in my diet. My mums cousin had the condition but no other family links and I was 50 when I got my first patch, so quite late.

I cover mine and wear fake lashes, tattooed brows etc and although I hate it, I've accepted it.

I recently (4 weeks ago) started taking probiotic supplements as I developed symptoms of IBS, and not only is my IBS so much better,  I've grown back a fine covering of hair on my head and a few body hairs - none on my eyebrows or lashes yet but a smattering elsewhere. This is the first time I've had ANY regrowth which got me interested in the leaky gut link.

Anyway, it may be co-incidence but following on from this small success I am going to start the GUT diet tomorrow and keep taking the live bacteria supplements and see how it goes.

I'm expecting to lose some weight, hoping to totally heal my IBS (which is not bad anyway and triggered by sugar)  and just wondering if I will get any hair regrowth - I'm not expecting miracles (but I am a teeny bit excited that maybe I'll get some eyelashes)  I shall keep you updated.

Hi there - I'll be very interested to follow your progress. I am also entirely AU (it has been one year) and so far nothing has made any difference, not even Xeljanz. Can you please tell me which probiotic supplements you are taking?

Thanks and good luck!

Anna

I am really curious to hear how this progresses.  My daughter is AU and I have wondered about a potential leaky gut connection.   The specialists we have seen have downplayed the leaky gut/diet link, but have offered no real alternatives.  Good luck to you and please update, hopefully with positive progress!

I took probiotic as part of my treatment which included steroids and immunoglobulin shots. I’m not hundred percent sure if the combo cause my full regrowth or it was just coincidence. I do have hashimotos and take levothyroxine too
