I have never worn false eyelashes, but I'm am thinking of giving them a try. I have no lashes at all. I need advice, please. Which lashes and adhesives are the best, how long to they last, do you remove them every night, will they stay on during exercising/sweating? Thanks.

Hey Mary,
If I were you, I'd find a professional lash person in your neighborhood and allow them to school you.
Good luck!!

I have been wearing false eyelashes for a couple of years now, and have become very accustomed to wearing them. I say you should go for it! I had no desire to at all before I started, even though I had and have no eyelashes at all. I use whatever brand from a drug store or even walmart and target, that has the number 110, I find this pair to be the most natural looking and not too over the top, but still beautiful to wear. You can even get the number 110 in a pack of four to have spares around, which I highly encourage. The adhesive I use is the duo dark tone, which is black glue instead of white, making it less noticeable. Yes, i remove them at night, but I have slept with them on before, but I don't really recommend it. Yes! They stay on during exercising and sweating, I play volleyball and work out ALL the time and don't have trouble with them coming off. The only time they have really come off is when I cry, but the majority of the time they even stay on then! I have ridden roller coasters IN THE RAIN, and they stayed on. The lashes I wear last a week to two weeks at the most. I use a tooth pick to apply the glue to the lashes, and remove the used glue every time I put them back on. You can even buy clear adhesive for a super long lasting grip, that requires baby oil to remove. This can irritate your lids though, so if you use it, don't use it very often. Remember, put your liner on BEFORE you put the lashes on. :)

Thanks so much for all the great advice. I think I will give them a try. One more question. I don't have any lashes at all, so would you recommend just using liner for the bottom? Thanks again.

Hi,
I've been wearing false eyelashes for over 40 years now. And without a doubt I say go for it! Once you get the hang of applying, you can put them on in seconds. With certain glues you can sleep with them, I've worn them for up to 5 days. I would recommend trimming the length for a more natural look. Yes just use liner for the bottom. I tried to wear lashes on the top and bottom and ended up gluing my eye shut :)
I would also recommend tattoos. they're the ultimate for self confidence, you can play, swim, or whatever without worrying.

Yes, wear lashes-I wear them most of the time when I am out, but not always around the house. I wear Ardell-I often use tiny sharp scissors to trim and feather them a bit, but that's because I like the "light" make up look. I use DUO glue that is white and dries clear because I have fair skin. Check out the post just after this about the new version of DUO glue

I buy them online from Ball Beauty in batches of 12-I guess only order that many after you have decided which style best suits you. Just like wigs it is a bit of trial and error, but buying them in big batches means you don't have to get distressed if you ruin one by pulling off the old glue too vigorously-(after each wearing) or crying or tearing up or whatever. They can last a couple of weeks at least if nothing untoward happens but can get ruined quickly by certain events.

I agree about no bottoms necessary, unless you have a very dramatic make up style. But bottom ones are crazy to try to deal with.
