Hi, I think this may be my first post. Just a quick intro. I'm 56 yrs old and I was diagnosed with AA when I was 36. I have been wearing a wig for about 10 yrs with 1year of regrowth only to lose it again about 4 yrs ago. Enough about that. I was a runner in my thirties and just started back last year. Now we all know how sweaty you get when we exercise, especially running. Last summer I ran on a trail near my home and always wore a ball cap. Of course I was self concious, especially when someone was behind me. I have been using the treadmill at the local gym this winter and I just can't bring myself to wear my ball cap in such close quarters with other people. I have been wearing my wig and needless to say, I sweat like a pig and my wig is soaked. Anyone have any suggestions on what to wear inside when exercising? Thanks

HI Eileen,

Which caps are you looking at? Do you have a model number? what I see at that site projects the image of "cancer bandana".
Hi Mary Anne,
I just switched to wearing a vacuum piece with a sweatband to soak up the sweat to a special bandana that covers the hole in the back with a ring of hair to go around the sides disguising it one step further. Not as glamorous, but it works. I put the hair in pigtails to look less fake and more active. I kickbox, run, ski and do all kinds of activities in it. Let me know if you need to know where to get products like this.

I know what you mean with the baseball caps (the ones with the open space in the back for pony tails). I found some ball caps on sports websites that are called "flex-fit" so they fit a little tighter on my head and don't have the open space in the back--all one piece. They are also mesh on top so they are much cooler when I work out and can be washed. I have a small head and with no hair, even smaller! So I had to find some that are either extra-small or youth size. But they fit pretty tight and don't have the opening so they've worked well so far.
I found a lot about what to wear while exercising on these boards, so I thought I'd post a find that was interesting. I found a "cap" for lack of a better word at a sporting goods store in the cycling section. It's from Brooks (the running shoe co.) and looks and fits kind of like a swim cap. but what was interesting is that it's made of the same material as many of the new running/workout clothes--the "dry weave" type of material that wisks away sweat from your body. Can't exactly remember the name, but something like Vapo Dry and retailed for about $18. it would also fit nicely under a bike helmet. I tried it on, I have a small head and no hair, but it fit quite snugly on my head and was very comfortable. Thought it would be great for running or cycling. Just wanted to pass along the info.

Believe me, there is nothing to be ashamed of. You should be brave and proud of yourself. You should think about your body first. Take great care of it, because it is really important. Any man of your age is probably having some back issues, so it would be a great idea to get a posture corrector at Compression Socks For Men for your workout.
