Hi everyone. I've been on this site for a while but never posted, but I figured I would share my experience just in case it helps anyone! I'm 20 years old and I found my first spot in December of last year and did not think much of it. The doctor gave me a cream to appease me and sent me on my way. Of course, this did nothing and the spot began to grow larger and larger and many more followed.

The panic and depression led me to the painful steroid injections and at the worst of it I received 96 injections in one appointment. I was so hopeless I began researching the more natural methods of treatment and wanted to try a gluten free diet. I asked my dermatologist about it and he basically laughed in my face. He tried to prescribe me prednisone but after reading nothing but horrible reviews from people on this site I told him I was not taking it.

At this point in March, despite the doctor's ridicule,  I began a gluten free diet and started acupuncture treatments. I started taking a biotin supplement as well. After a few weeks I did notice spots starting to fill in, but I don't know if this was a result of the diet or the multiple rounds of injections I had received. Although spots were filling in, I still felt like I was losing a lot of hair and spots were still appearing/growing larger.

In July I decided I would eliminate dairy from my diet as well. I truly believe this is the most beneficial thing I have done. Almost immediately I felt like my hairloss slowed down. I have not found a new spot since I eliminated dairy. I have not been to a doctor since June, but have stuck to this gf df diet and all but one of my spots have filled in (I had about 7 considerably large spots). Besides the diet I have also incorporated more exercise and relaxation into my life. I began meditating and seeing a therapist as well.

Now obviously I'm not a doctor and I'm not saying you should definitely do this, but if you are considering switching up your diet I think it is worth a shot! I know some people have tried this and have not seen results but I just wanted to share my experience even if it helps just one person. Feel free to message me if you have any questions or just want to talk!
