Has anyone had a chemical peel, and after the healing, had regrowth of hair lost due to Alopecia Areata?

I am unsure of what chemical and what strength was used, but I had a chemical peel in December and again in March. The Dermatologist did both my face and scalp. I have had regrowth in some areas over the last 2 weeks or so, after having AU for 4 years. Also, my right eyebrow began to fall out earlier this year and that too has filled back in.

If you have had a similar experience with a chemical peel inducing hair growth, please share.

I don't know, but I want to try this.... what type of chemical peel... just the derm-spa stuff for wrinkles?

My skin had some dark marks from acne so the dermatologist suggested chemical peels. My skin is clearing up nicely after 2 sessions. It wasn't intended to be any type of treatment for my Alopecia as none of them worked for me and I decided to just accept it, rather than try anything else. Its a regular peel, similar to the fruit acid peels you can apply at home, but stronger. I have to go back in 2 weeks so I'll ask if the acid could have induced hair growth. Just wanted to know if anyone had a similar experience.

i don't know? but i am schedule for next week for a peel to for the acne marks will let you know if i see anything within the months to come.

That is extremly interesting. Please keep us posted.

You have me motivated... so this Wednesday, I'm going for a TSA chemical peel (not sure what that stands for but it's clinical strength) chemical peel on my head and chest. Hopefully it will reboot my scalp, and I won't grow hair on my chest... ha :-) It's supposed to be deep, I asked the estatician if it would damage hair follicles, she said it didn't that ladies who got it on their faces that had mustaches still always grew back their soup coolers. ;-) We had a good laugh about that one.

Haha... Well we can keep each other posted.

So I did the TCA peel on the 18th of April. So far, my face has peeled and now my head is peeling... it's itchy. Did yours get itchy Amanda? Anyway, not sure if it will do anything, one can only hope... the lady who did it said she researched a bit and saw that it does indeed stimulate hair growth, so who knows!?
I'll let you know if there's any improvement. How is yours doing?

Hello, what's new? The growth continues?

Hello there, well... the peel did just that... peeled. Nothing new, burning continues, no new hair growth unfortunately.

Hi Sarah. Sorry I didn't respond sooner. It does get itchy, but you have to moisturise with a lotion like Cetaphil, and wear sunblock. Mine is still growing, slowly though. My dermatologist is more excited than I am. I hope the treatment stimulates growth.

Hey there Amanda :-) No need to be sorry... it was just 4 hours lol. Glad yours is growing.... I've had burning for a year, the peel didn't cause that... and moisturization does nothing. I would love for it to resolve already... tried everything.
