Hi :) Hope everyone is okay? :)

I just wondered if anyone out there has any problems with their joints? Odd question maybe... but let me explain.

I have been diagnosed with arthritis in my hands, and I'm only 21. I get sever paint in my wrist and finger joints. The doctors told me this was because I use my hands a lot; I am a painting student, paper maker, musician and I temp part time. Which I thought, fair enough, but I wonder if it's connected to alopecia in some way?

Would love any feed back :)

Take care xx

Hi,
I have alopecia aerata.I had one episode at 16 after mono, and then another after my second baby. No more until menopause. I was diagnosed with arthritis after age 25. I am 48 now and have it in all joints, but it started in my hands. I have noticed that this all seems to cycle for me and when I feel the worst, or have an attack of arthritis I begin to shed. Just thought I would mention it.

Thanks for sharing Jackie :) It's nice to know we're not on our own. I'm coping, I just wondered if there was anyone else like me out there :) Take care xxx

Since alopecia is an autoimmune disease, arthritis is a common diagnosis/symptom with alopecia, as are several other conditions. In my mind the goal is treat the cause of the autoimmune disorder, what triggers it.

Thanks Steph. I've been referred to the hospital to try and deal with it, so finger's crossed x
