Since I've been bald for about a year...I've felt more confident and happier. When my hair started falling out,for some reason,I wasn't at all depressed. Probably because I had planned to cut my dreadlocks off anyway. I hope that I can inspire others to see that hair is an accessory, not a necessity.

I am very pleased you are thriving with your hair loss. X

Very happy to know that you are dealing with hair loss so gracefully. Sad thing is that everyone doesn't treat baldness like you. So yes, you can definitely inspire others.

I shaved my head about a month ago ( It only took about 6 to 8 weeks to develop AA ) I had more patches than I did hair. I have to tell you that I have felt great about it ( well after the first week ) ............I go bald around my hubby and a few of my very close friends, but still wear a scarf or beanie when I am out in public. I did not seek treatment nor will I.  Altho I must add that I will be 60 this fall, have a very loving support group and a husband that does not seem to mind my NEW look, for that I am grateful.

Hi.
I too have never felt depressed about going bald. I felt down for a few hours when I first realised that I was losing my eyebrows and lashes but yes I feel even more confident and happy and currently don't miss my hair at all. I've enjoyed experimenting with new makeup and am currently trying techniques for creating natural looking and long lasting eyebrows. 'EyeLineHer' was a great inspiration for this as was googling 'bald and beautiful' for inspirational images.
I even got a compliment for my 'great head' the other day when I went to a concert.:-)
I rarely wear a wig and don't feel any different other than a new sense of freedom that comes from things such as being able to shower my head every day, not worry about my hair messing up in the wind, giving away all my hair products etc. I don't feel like I am treated any differently. Yes I occasionally catch someone looking at me but I just smile and they always smile back.
I know that many people don't feel this way so for those of us who are confident, we can hopefully inspire and educate people about this condition and challenge images of beauty/attractiveness for women.
