In addition to the alopecia spot on my head, I have also had hidradenitis supprativa for decades. Since both are autoimmune disorders, I wonder if anyone else here suffers from both?
I have an outbreak of HS right now, along with muscle aches and back ache. The HS always hits when my system seems to be a little run down.
Do any of you have any immunity building supplements that you have really seen a difference from using?

I also have both. I just discovered I had Alopecia about a year ago, but have had HS for about 10 years now. i would love to know an answer to this as well!
=-)
Interesting. I wonder how many others have both?
I have been researching like crazy. it started small about a year ago, the Alopecia, and then over the last few months blew up, i am missing about half my hair now if not more, i have noticed a few white hairs growing, it is giving me hope, but it is not thick, so i dont know. i was barely able to afford a wig, but have been unable to go back to the doctor for a while.
Sorry to hear it. I just have one alopecia spot (knock on wood!) but Dr. said it was the immune system. It's right at the crown and quite noticeable. It appeared shortly after my dad's death and was likely stress related, but hair has never come back.
We'll have to keep digging for a connection. I have had pinched nerve/muscle issues in the past too, and notice it is acting up right along with the HS. There has to be a reason for that.
Hang in there!
Oh my God!!!!! I get that! Before the birth of my daughter I had nothing going on....then I had her, developed mild eczema, seasonal rhinitis and that evil HS which I had to take antibiotics for months to dampen down and has finally stopped though I do get tender armpits....and then 3 months ago I get AA! I was only thinking about the HS today and wondering if it's all interlinked somehow.....how bizarre. xx
Yes, seems too coincidental to be coincidence!
I had nerve issues around my left shoulder blade and muscles problems there, the alopecia started up not to long after that happened too!
Interesting I have chronic pain around my left shoulder blade area which started around the time of the alopecia hmmm?
Maybe it is all autoimmune-related, but the big question is....what is the best way to address that?
I think maybe tight muscles in the upper back stop blood flow to the head thus causing baldness. Just a theory. Thoughts? Also, I believe both symptoms are probably stress related
Stress related a definite possibility.
