Hello all,

I was a bit surprised to see no discussion at all of alexithymia on this forum – that is, the inability to feel or process emotions. Given that there is strong evidence linking those with alopecia areata to alexithymia, I thought it would make interesting reading for anyone with AA.

I wish I had come across the existence of alexithymia when I first had my AA diagnosis 7 years ago, as I could have saved a lot of money on thyroid panels, blood tests, private doctors etc, as well as had a better lens through which to understand other autoimmune conditions that sometimes flare up.

If there are any mistakes in the studies referenced please let me know.
